Olympic Hockey

So now that most (if not all) of the Olympic hockey teams have been decided on, who from your home/favourite hockey team is an Olympian?

There are 8 Canucks going to the Olympics:

Team Canada:
Ed Jovonoski (D)
Todd Bertuzzi (F)

Sweden:
Marcus Naslund (F)
Henrik Sedin (F)
Daniel Sedin (F)
Mattius Ohlund (D)

Suomi (Finland):
Jarko Ruutu (F)
Sami Salo (D)

From the Leafs:

McCabe is on Team Canada's Taxi Squad and as far as I know, Sundin will be playing for Sweden. I think that's all for the Leafs.

I'm not too happy about Bertuzzi. It's not that he's not a good player. It's a personal opinion. I don't he should still be playing in the NHL let alone be going to the Olympics. But I don't believe he'll be detrimental to the team.

Edit to add:

Aki Berg will be playing for Finland.

I agree about the Bertuzzi, he should not even been allowed to return to playing professionally.

But for the US

I'm glad Chelios is going but I don't understand why Roenick was not even considered for the US.

Wow maybe Team Finland stole the penguin, it probably has as much skill as Aki "the goat" Berg...i'm a huge Leaf fan but Aki sucks.

Hahaha :D

I never said I was an Aki fan. I was only making an observation.

Once again Canada has enough talent to basically take on any combination of two teams combined and still win.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Team Canada: Adam Foote and Rick Nash

Czech Republic: David Vyborny

Slovakia: Radoslav Suchy

Add me to the list of people shaking their head about Bertuzzi. I don't get it, but I guess that's why hockey is a business.

Nicklas Lidstrom, Niklas Kronwall, Henrik Zetterberg and Mikael Samuelsson- Sweden

I so agree. Contrast him with Beckie Scott (x-country skiier and a class act.). Girlfriend got the bronze, then got promoted to silver, then gold when the Russians before her were stripped of their medals (a process which took YEARS). And where are all those big endorsements? My sentiments exactly....... Yeesh.

Sure Steve Moore started it, but it was not Bertuzzi's to finish.

I have seen things a lot worse happen on an ice rink than what Bertuzzi did...in reality all he did was sucker punch a guy from behind...granted it is a cheap thing to do and it is unfortunate the way things turned out...but I dont consider that any worse than a guy jumping on another players back and using his stick to repeatedly cross check him from behind, a guy throwing his stick at another player which then hit him in the face breaking the guy's eye socket (heard his eye was kinda hanging out), or one playing picking up a stick and swinging it at another playing (baseball style) during a fight. As far as I know no criminal charges were brought in any of these cases, and in my opinion the court system needs to stay out of professional sports (at least in on the field/court/rink affairs) unless they are gonna start charging football players for battery after every play (afterall hitting another person is a crime).

I'm just hoping that he gets the hint one of these days and realizes why the Leaf/Habs/Oilers/Flames fans boo him when he is introduced; and even when he touches the puck in some cases...

The guy is a tool with a history of dishonourable actions on the ice - the fact that his last major cowardly act was broadcast for all to see only makes his continued acceptance all the more disappointing... I thought Gretzky had higher moral standards than this...

Gretzky has his reasons. It looked like it was between Bertuzzi and Crosby and from what I have been hearing, Crosby is a jackass himself.

Yeah... chosing between a moronic thug and a pompous little shit... great choices there  Only one of those two would actually truely hurt team cohesion to such an extent to affect game play.
