Staticky Hair
NO clue how to spell static-y so I made it up. Anyways, during the winter no matter if my hair is straight or curly, I get the WORST static. It was so bad last night that when I went to put it in a pony tail the static was SO loud that my friends could hear it. Any remedies? I know the "hairspray on the brush" trick usually works but hairspray dries out my hair and the brush wouldn't exactly worth with my curly hair.

Touch metal.

take advantage of that shit.
rub the sole of your shoe on carpet, go up to someone and shake their hand. ZAP! |
Ohhhhhhh, my goodness, I have this same problem and it drives me nuts! Year after year after year, I dread winter because you can literally hear the static coming off my hair as soon as it touches something like a sweater or a scarf. I'm not a fan of the hairspray-on-the-hairbrush thing either because then it makes my hair stiff, but leave-in conditioner does help some. I haven't really found anything yet that works wonders, though, so if anybody knows about anything like that please speak up!

My mom swears by using dryer sheets, the anti static cling kind, and will just touch it over the top of her hair, but I've never actually had to do it...could be worth a try though, its something that we all have lying around the house!

Have you ever tired a glosser? It's a thick serum type stuff that you can put in your hair while its wet before you style. Then after you style it put a little in your hands and run it through. Keeps frizz down and gets rid of static.

I use Elements Smoothing Fluid from Aveda and have no problem with static. I put some on when my hair is wet and then a little after drying it, and my hair looks nice and shiny.
Their Brilliant Gloss is also awesome and a bit heavier. |
I've sprayed Static Guard on my brush or comb before and that seemed to work. You can get the little travel sizes and just give your hair a quick spritz too if you are on the go.

I keep dryer sheets in my pockets (like crzychx) and use a glossing serum. StaticGuard stinks and can make your hair break, so I wouldn't use that. Make sure you are using conditioner, too.

I just use Static Guard. It smells like glue though. I spray it up and let it fall on my hair.

I used BioSilk shampoo and conditioner, then BioSilk SilkTherapy serum when it was wet, and then some of that and Redken Water Wax after. Still static as hell. I'll try the dryer sheet thing tho. Thanks girls!

Use Butch Wax or Pomade!
No more stringy Hair!:D :) |
I use Enjoy's Leave In Conditioner. It is the best.
