extension presentation
Sorority members on GC often comment on the time and expense of expansion packages and extension presentations when a Panhellenic council is selecting a new NPC sorority.
So what do sororities include in their extension packages to help convince the Panhel to select them to present. Also, what all goes into an extension presentation? Just curious since I have never seen an extension package or presentation before! :D |
A lot of the expense is getting the presenters there. While they do try to have local alums present, sometimes there aren't any, and even if there are, often it's good to have a national officer of the sorority. If she lives in California & the presentation is in Vermont...you do the math. :)

What she said!!!
A huge part of it is travel and lodging. In an expansion packet would be information about organization and why XYZ Sorority would be a good fit for ABC University. It is supposed to only be paper but can have a video as well. Denise Director of Expansion |
When you get to the extension presentation phase, other elements come into play. We usually have a reception the night before for area alumnae. Sometimes it's on campus and other times it's at a restaurant. We let them know about tentative timelines, if selected, and collect thier volunteer forms for those who hadn't already submitted.
When it comes to the actual presentation day, it really depends on the school. Sometimes, they have limits on what you can and cannot do. Sometimes they also put limits on how many people you can have. For example, one school may only allow 10 representatives (collegians and alumnae) per group. Another school may not specify a number so group A shows up with 10 people but group B rolls in with 50! The presentation itself can be a mixture a speeches, video and powerpoint. Sometimes there are table displays. It just depends on how much time they give you and the size of the room. |
