another beauty question for the ladies
 

Ok so I was going through my makeup collection trying to weed out the stuff that I don't use (there's a lot of it because I never wear makeup) and I was wondering if anyone knows how long certain products had shelf lives for. A lot of my stuff is fairly old. I was wondering about my foundation (Lancome photogenique), it's about 2 years old, is that still good or should I toss it?

I only know the "official" rule for mascara, and that's 3 to 6 months (supposedly)...

But I've found that base seems to separate after a couple years or so (or, in the case of Bobbe Brown, about 6 months so you better use that stuff like crazy). Eyeshadows will go for a couple years, just watch for crumbliness because that's a sign that they need to be tossed. Lipstick will last a couple years, too. Liquid eyeshadows seem to last a little less time than powder eyeshadows, because after a while they start to sort of separate like foundation does. What did I leave out?

Edited to add: If I can't remember a general time frame I bought it in and it looks like it's seen better days, I get rid of it.
