Drunk= the truth?

This question is mainly for the guys- Do you usually confess the truth when you are drunk?

Here is a quick rundown of the night:
Saw ex-hookup boy at the bar. We went on a date or two this summer, but we never really considered each other anything but hookup friends.
He came over and talked to my friend and I. He asked where my "football player boyfriend" was. I let him know that the football player is not my boyfriend.

He then asked me to go to Savannah the next night with him and his friends. I told him I couldn't b/c I had to work Sunday morning. He pulled out a wad of cash and was like "here, how much will you make working sunday morning, I'll pay double" (gah, way to make me sound like a cheap whore)

I ended up going to his house that night. He was definitely drunk. So we get home, and we are laying in the bed just chatting. And then he pulls off "If I ask you to be my girlfriend will you say yes?". I was semi-sober so I was asking him why he wanted me to be his girlfriend, his answer was I'm the most beautiful girl he's ever been with, I'm smart, and I seem like the kind of person that would be faithful. He then goes onto say he has never really wanted a girlfriend in the past because he hasn't been financially able to take care of another person, but now he is working harder and making enough money to give a girl whatever she wants. He then told me, him asking me to be his gf was a major step for him, he hasn't asked anyone to be his girlfriend since highschool (he just turned 25).

So now I don't know whats up. He has called me every night since Friday wanting me to hang out. I think we are going to see a movie tonight.

But anyway, guys how honest are you when you are drunk?**Oh, and I know he just wasn't telling me those things to get in my pants. He knows how we roll, and that I would have done it anyway**

Take it with a grain of salt. I tend to exaggerate when I'm drunk. Sometimes it's the truth, other times I just get carried away with what I say even if it's not true at all... (ask my friend Abbie about me carrying on...she's heard me go on and on about 7-8 times about the picture from Senior Spring Formal and how it's the best picture ever and how much it means to me...)

I don't know...if he has already got what he wanted, he might be semi honest.

I don't care how drunk I am, I continue to spit out what I think a girl wants to hear. It's only later on that I'm take the loophole I left and get the heck out of there-hopefully to never speak to her again.

There might be some sincerity -- if his actions following that admission seem to indicate that he's serious, then he very well may be.

I think I agree with both of these, but for safe measure (and because of past experiences).... I don't believe a WORD a guy says when he is drunk. Better safe than sorry.

Personally, I would ignore the words he said when he was drunk and instead pay attention to his actions when he is sober. That will tell you MUCH more. :)

A good friend of mine, who I considered just a friend until this summer, finally fessed up to liking me in "that" way this year, but only after a little liquid courage. I asked him again when he was sober, and the opinion hadn't changed. Perhaps it is a bit of a "removed reservations" thing. Ask him in the morning after a couple of tylenol. ;)

Post a picture and I'll let you know if he was lying or telling the truth.

Wow - I'm sorry, this sentence just struck me as funny.

Also, honesty when drinking is different from person to person. I'm honest when I'm drunk, but I don't exactly spout B.S. when I'm sober anyway.

Yeah, well, no one can prove I don't play for the Yankees and own a Fortune 500 company.

honestly every person is different when they are drunk but i do find it easier to say something to someone that i couldnt say when im sober when im drunk. if he is still calling you though then call him on what he said when he was drunk. he might have been telling the truth ya never know. but on the other hand i know plenty of guys that are really good bsers even when they are sober and it only gets worse when they are drunk. so if i were you id just talk to him and find out what hes thinking about the conversation. good luck!!

it depends if the person is a good friend then I normally tell the truth...if I dont know them then 95% of what comes out of my mouth is BS

Buttonz 12-16-2005 12:01 PM

I've very wary of what a person says when drunk...but that's me
