Sen. Eugene McCarthey Dies...
Here is a man who may not be much more than a footnote in history to many, but who was a strong voice for the "loyal opposition" in his day, and an inspiration to many youth of the Vietnam era...
"Former Minnesota Sen. Eugene J. McCarthy, whose insurgent campaign toppled a sitting president in 1968 and forced the Democratic Party to take seriously his message against the Vietnam War, died Saturday. He was 89." No matter how people felt about his politics and beliefs, he was a corageous and outspoken man. |
He was a facinating read in my American History class a few years back - can't say I agreed with all of his stances or reasoning, I have to respect his impact on American politics... one has to wonder what would have happened if he had defeated LBJ.

Richard Pryor also died today.
One of the first and most successful to bring the foulest language to comedy. |

True and while a footnote at that period of time, He did change some of the Political Outlooks. |
