Need some ideas for an angel costume

Okay..so I found out today that my daughter is going to be an angel in her Christmas pageant next week. The costumes are not to be fancy, and she can't have large wings. She also has to have a simple halo as well.

So....

what ideas do you have for a working mom without a sewing machine to make such a costume?

Can you sew by hand? This looks like it only involves a little bit of sewing.

Take some white poster board and draw some wings on it. Cut them out. Either put some irridecent glitter on them or outline them with gold or silver garland. attach two pieces of string to the wings and slip them on. and wear a white shirt and white pants or skirt with the wings.

I hope I explained that well enough. If its unclear feel free to ask me any questions. I was always an angel every year and thats how we always did it.

For the Halo a piece of gold or silver garland works nicely

I made a fairy costume for Halloween that was quick and easy.

I got some costume satin (though, cotton will work too) and cut a hole in the middle of it for my head. I then cut L shapes down each side for sleeves and the skirt. I then stapled the seams together. And then tied something around me so I still had a waist. Just make sure when you are cutting and stapling, that you staple the INSIDE so you can flip to the Outside and not see staples. If it has a pattern it's more obvious on what to do. However, if it's white on both sides, it shouldn't matter. Does that make sense?

Wings? Poster board and some glitter. Maybe get some elastic or something.

Most of the theatre groups I've been in have just used gold garland as a halo - right on the head, not on a stick or anything.

Keep in mind that kids can get cranky (Ha! Like I have to tell you that!) with costumes, if they're not comfortable!

White robe with a silver tinsle fringe - bottom and/or sleaves... plus extra tinsle can be used to enhance halo...

silver or gld wire confetti for the halo----99 cents cheap
white poster board cut out wings trimed with the same wire confetti
silver or gold tree trimming for the bottom of the white robe

I took my job's daughter white robe , if any of you know what that is, and trimmed it with silver tree trimming and used the halo idea as well for a halloween party
