Fatal Accident involving ISU Sigma Kappa

It's tragic what happened to this young woman this past weekend. From what I've heard on the news, the sidewalks and such were pretty well covered with snow, so she was walking in the street, when she was struck in a hit and run accident. Hopefully the police will be able to find out who hit her.

This is tragic. Let's hope this hit and run driver is found.

Another reminder that, even while reading the first link, until I scrolled back up to see the name of the paper, there was no way to know which "ISU" was involved here. It is Iowa State, by the way.

Please use the name of the university in the topics, not initials. Bad journalism on the part of the school paper as well, although college journalists tend to live in their own small world and don't think of things like this too often.

Point is that folks from other "I" states may have been concerned about where this unfortunate incident happened.

Thanks.

I posted this in the Sigma Kappa forum as well.

IIRC that area, it's by the [former] baseball field, correct? I didn't even think there were sidewalks in that area, unless she was on the other side of the street near AKLs

I know what it is like to lose an active sister of the chapter. God Bless everyone in the chapter, there is nothing harder than having to say goodbye to one of your own who leaves you all to soon.

The baseball fields (Capp Tim) meet at the corners of Knapp and Sheldon. Mortensen is a few blocks south of Knapp. It's the street right behind Towers.

How terribly sad. I hope they find the driver of the car that hit her.

My sympathies go out to her family, friends, and Alpha Epsilon Sisters.

This is Shame for someone to be shamed of. I am sure a very sad heart is with The Sisters of SK and The Greek Community.

To leave someone on a street and die!

This seems to be happeing more and more from Media reports!

I truly feel horrible for the victim in the accident. From everything that I've heard, she sounds like she was a wonderful member.

Sadly, they have found the car and the driver that did it. However, I think it'd be best for all parties involved if we wait for an actual story in a newspaper/media source to go public with it first. Once the story is actually public, I think that will become clear why.

My prayers out to her and her family and friends.

This was released in the local Ames Tribune paper today. The student newspaper isn't printing this week because it's Finals Week. Unfortunately, the person that the police believe to have been driving the car is also a college student and also Greek.

Bumping because the driver was taken in on charges of homicide by vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of a crime. What's interesting is that the police have seized information from both her MySpace and Facebook accounts because she posted "valuable information" there. They also seized her computer along with that of other people at the party she attended. I'm not sure if she was still living at her chapter when she was charged.

I really want to think she DID figure she hit a deer.

I think I'd be too depressed otherwise.
