I've been reading the out-of-town obituaries for the notice of my godson's father, and came across this one. I'm sure she was a lovely lady, but check out the sorority name!

Marjorie Freeman

Marjorie Laird Freeman, 86, of Palm Springs died Nov. 28, 2005, in Palm Springs of natural causes.
She was born April 16, 1919, to Marshall Laird and Dorothy Crassweller Laird in Los Angeles.

She was an actress under contract with MGM and an award-winning designer and member of NSAID.

She attended the International School in Geneva and USC, where she was a member of the Phi Fi Sorority and Homecoming Queen (Helen of Troy).

She is survived by her son, Austin Montgomery of Atlanta; her daughter, Robin Montgomery-Kay of Palm Springs; a brother, Roger Laird; and three grandsons.

Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors of Palm Springs is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests that donations be made to The Pegasus Riding Academy for the Handicapped in Palm Desert.
