UGa: making it easy to start chapters

Very surprising article, with IFC adv. saying anyone can start a fraternity by filling out two forms and getting some guys together.

What a refreshing attitude.

Not true. Anyone cannot start a fraternity.

They can start a COLONY which may fall on its arse if all they have is two guys. But if the Greek advisor there likes doing unnecessary paperwork, rock on.

What's the point of letting them get their hopes up when they know the national standards to receive a charter are much tougher?

True, but the article states that is does depend on the individual orgs and that they would start as a colony. The advisor specifically states that just because you get a form doesn't mean you are a colony. I think his goal is to find men a "home" and that article makes it clear that he is determined to help Greek Life grow for men at UGA.

Sorry but You are wrong, starting a Colony is Starting a Greek Organization.

If they Fall On Their "Arses" then so be it.

This does give a chance for other Greeks to go on campus. National Fraternitys will not just go on Campus unless there is either a quality Group that wants to affiliate or there is a Strong enough Group of Men who are interested. It will also Help if there is a decent Alum base to help if possible.

True, it is not just fill out a form and start.

LXA requires as most NIC GLOs to have enough Members to make it viable and to fulfill certain requirements to become an Initiated Chapter.

hoosier, thank You once again for pointing something out without to much interuption!;)

Not really. Starting a Colony is the Same thing as Starting a Greek Organization. Dont They Use The Name of The Greek Organization with maybe as We do a Colony # after it. They are under the umbrella of a Greek Organization whether it be a Local Group or One started by a National who are recruiting at The Moment.!
