Hello
My name is Barrister Abbey George,a solicitor at law. Forgive me for writing you like this but i have a situation at hand, and i strongly believe that by the end of your reading through this email, you will agree with me that it is worth the trail.
On the 31 Jan 2000, my client, his wife and their two children were
involved in the kenya airways flight with registration number 5Y-BEN which
departed from Nairobi to Lagos/Abidjan.(http://dnausers.d-n-a.net/dnetGOjg/300100.htm)
Since then I have made several enquiries to locate any of my cliente's
extended relatives, this has also proven unsuccessful.
After these several unsuccessful attempts, I have contacted you to assist in repatriating the money before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the security company where this huge deposit was lodged. The security company where the deceased had an account valued at about US$39.8 Million has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated on or before the 21st of December fiscial year, 2005. Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the
relatives for over years now, I seek your consent to present you as the
next of kin of the deceased so that the proceeds of this account valued at
US$39.8 Million can be paid to you and then you and I can share the
money.50% to me, 50% .All I require is your honest cooperation to
enable us see this deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed
under a legitimate arrangement that
will protect you from any breach of the law.

My Reply:
For a "Solicitor at Law" you have horrible grammar. Please refrain from further lowering my IQ reading your garbage. Thank you!

I just got that letter, too. I was going to answer, "bummer." but thought that it would only increase the spam.

Lindz928 11-28-2005 12:23 PM

Hmm.... Sounds like a great way for this "barrister" to get all of the information he would need to steal your identity. What a coincidence.

I hate this crap. I always have to warn my parents about it, because it's just the kind of thing they fall for.

33girl 11-28-2005 12:37 PM

I got one too. LOL.

I'll send that right over to you along with my bank account number...

This is a con game commonly called the "Nigerian Scam", as it began in the African country of Niger.

I've received emails as well, although not through GC.

I don't repond to them, I just hit delete.

Thanks for reminding me! That could have delayed the process!

AlphaFrog 11-28-2005 03:12 PM

I just can't believe that someone would take the time to find message boards and PM spam people. I hope John bans this chick.

hoosier 11-28-2005 03:26 PM

Beforre this Nigerian scam got onto the internet, it was common to receive letters from Nigeria with similar offers.

I read one story that even th stamps on the lettrs were counterfeits.

A secretary at a prominent Atlanta law firm fell for the letter a couple years ago, and the firm lost over $100,000.

If only one person is tricked, the scam pays off.

USCTKE 11-28-2005 03:49 PM

are people really so lazy that instead of gettin a job they will take the time to search out people to try and get this scam to work...the world is in a downward spiral...and I just hope Im not here when it hits rock bottom

lifesaver 11-28-2005 09:05 PM

I said it before on here about this stuff.

Maybe it would be a bit more believable if they would fix their broke-ass engrish.

OR

Find one of them sally struthers kids (they always seem to be in school on the infomertials) who has passed the kenyan equivelant of fouth grade and and have them write the letter for them.

BTW, when do you think most of Africa will quit blaming England and other former colonial powers for their blight and just fix they shit? I know I'm tired of the whining...
