Racism Once Again In Charlotte
To those who are unaware, this
past Saturday there was supposed to be a Battle of the Border afterparty at Menage nightclub. Promoters were approached by Menage management about having a party at their venue during this particular weekend. The promoters accepted the invitation. An agreeement was made and signed off on by both parties (the promoters and Menage management) however on Saturday night before the party was to start, the owner of Menage (Stefan Latorres) approached the promoters who were in the midst of setting up for the party advising that the agreement they had made was going to be voided and that he "did not want 500 black people in his club". He then proceeded to prohibit all from entering the club. Stefan Latorres, a minority himself, making such a bold statement shows that he is not only a racist but an ignorant businessman. His club is steadily going down, beginning when the first statements of racism were made in early 2005. Now, the new hotspot "The Forum" is open and running circles around "Menage". Basically, Mr. LaTorres is saying that he would rather go out of business, than open his club to blacks. He doesn't value the black dollar and we should no longer support Mr. Latorres at Menage, his resturant "Latorres" or at his law firm. Let's stand up as a people and let them know that the black dollar is just as important as any other dollar! Keep this message moving.... |
