Badges of Extinct/Absorbed Fraternitys

Took this from a previous Post and it sounded like an excellent Idea.

LXA and TKN Merged in 1939 still to this day, the larges Merger in Modern Greekdom.

The Pledge Pins were incorporated as were symbols on the Coat of Arms and Constitunionl Rules and Regulations.

One of the major changes were changing The Lion Rampant from Red to White, the Red Looked like a Ketchsup stain on the Coat of Arms!:)

Over the years, there were many mergers with Locals, one being Mine and one being Aburn of which I have a Local Pin in My Collection.

I beleive the Last Merger was By Phi Sigma Kappa when Phi Sigma Epsilon merge with them.

WOW, great post!

Over the years, there have been many absorbstions and Mergers.

In years of Yore, many smaller Local Groups found they just couldnt make it and decided to merge which promigated their Lives as Viable Organization.

I know of at least two LXA Brothers who are trying catalog Badges and Pledge Pins of said Groups who merged with us.

It is a huge undertaking for sure.

But as life goes on, it gets harder and harder.

LXA requires that each Local gives a Badge and Pin for IHQ.

I cannot say how long this has gone on as I can only relate to My Local in 1965.

As I said, I have a Local Badge from Aburn that has been scanned and kept in a data bank.

Thanks to techzbt for showing these Badges.

nice post, techzbt. I remember all those fraternities, and have very mixed emotions. TKE took jewish members and so did a few
others. The "clause" removal spelt doom for the various groups who, some innocently, demanded a particular ethos or faith. I recall catholic and lutheran groups having ministers corner kids to
hotbox 'em...bush league indeed. Acacia had tough times with the masonic mantle hanging over them, and today we have come
back to the hypocrisy...with the Latino, Asian, Black, Mormon ones
and I fought in the 50s--so intently-- to have it all open.
Yes, sometimes we talk out of both sides of our mouth.
