Membership Education

Ladies,

I'm slating for my chapter's Membership Education Vice President. I'm trying to think of new ways to get my sisters excited about ADPi. Our current MEVP does a great job - our retreat was phenomenal, and she read us excerpts from Eugenia's diary...stuff that really got the chapter excited about our history. But, I still want to add new and different things to our educational chapters and the education of the sisters in general. If you can think of anything, let me know!!

pi love!

So are you looking for ideas for TME workshops and Alpha Ed so members have a deeper appreciation of history and ritual?

Yes I am! Basically, any ideas you have to get the chapter motivated - - new educational workshops that have worked well in your chapters, etc.

The MEVP before me did a breast cancer awareness TME...I forget what she called it, but our recruitment advisor (who was a registered nurse) led it in her own home, and while it's a serious topic, we had a lot of fun!

I'll try to think of other things my chapter did :)

If you decide to do the breast cancer awareness TME, check out your local CVS. They have the coolest reminders! They're pink, have the instructions on them, and (the best part!) have a series of months down the one side, which you punch out when you do your monthly exam! And... they're free!

If your CVS doesn't have them, let me know, and I can get them from mine & send them to you.

I think one big thing that is currently going on in the office of MEVP is Well Balanced Person-- under the Leadership Chair on the MEVP team. You can plan as many TME's as you want, but they are really pushing this new idea- probably to help avoid overprogramming.

I am sure you collegiate members are aware of this- but basically what they have done is broken most of the programming down into classes. Each class has a coordinator that oversees the programming for her class. Within those classes you are to hold workshops that are geared towards women that age...but all classes are invited to come. Right now we do not have any Freshman- but our Sophomore Class held a workshop on ?(trying to remember), our Junior class held a Financial Workshop, and our Senior class held an Aerobics/Wellness workshop. Since it is newer we were not exactly sure what to do and only held those three plus the required workshops- Alpha Delta Pi for a Lifetime and the All Campus TME (we did a stress management workshop the week leading up to exams in the spring-- it was super cool!). The Leadership Chair's notebook has mannnny suggestions for workshops for each class. It really worked out well for us this fall.

So my suggestion to you is:
1.Come up with workshop ideas for each class
2. Plan an awesome All Campus TME
3. Spice up Alpha Delta Pi for a Lifetime
4. Come up with new ideas for Prides
5. Plan the best Chapter Retreat anyone has ever seen

You can always plan non-class TMEs for the chapter-- but remember you do not want to overprogram them. For example- if you held the Breast Cancer Awareness one- you could make that an All-Campus or All-Greek TME. Meet with your outgoing MEVP for help and get a feel from the chapter to see what they are interested in too!

Can you tell I am a Membership Education Advisor!! Actually, I am the new Chapter Advisor-- your new Chapter Province Director at Miami is whose place I took!

ETA: You are required to do a Ritual Review Workshop for the entire chapter each year. You can make it more indepth and also add history info to the workshop. This way you can do the workshop you wanted to do and fulfill a requirement at the same time!

Oooh congrats! I love the new CPD, she's really on top of everything and answers my questions very quickly.

She is good! Believe me- things will not get past her and she will crack down on everything. So if something is wrong she will fix it and if something is not wrong she will make it even better!!
