Jerry Sanders captures 54 percent of votes

Sanders celebrates with his family.Donna Frye's third mayoral bid in less than a year came to an end Tuesday night as former chief of police and former San Diego State student Jerry Sanders captured 54 percent of the vote in the special election.
Sanders, a former treasurer and pledge trainer of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at SDSU, said the experience taught him responsibility early on in his life.
"What I really found out how to do was live with a group of guys - to live as a community," Sanders said at his electoral ceremony.
As former police chief, Sanders is no stranger to crime trends. He said the San Diego Police Department and University Police should coordinate closely to stamp out the recent crime wave at SDSU.

Interesting-- didn't know he was a SAE. It should be interesting to see what he does for the city.

Ron Roberts, another notable San Diego politician, is also an SAE from SDSU.....
