Nominating Committee
Due to some crap that happened - I'm deleting my posts. Thank you for all of your support and feedback during the course of these events. If you'll scroll to the bottom, you'll see that I have updated with the results =) Thank you.

Just trust your NomCom. You might not alway agree with them and sometimes they will make mistakes but just let thing role and if that girl get just see what she can do. The exec council can remove her from her position if she is not doing any good for the chapter.

WHAT? She's on probations and still nominated. If she's on probation (any kind make that financial, academic, or whatever) she is not allowed to hold and office. Tell NomCom to look at the By-laws. She CANNOT hold an office. Your Chapter Advisor should have know this and not allowed she to be put on the slate or even to be nominated. There is no way she can hold office.

As a member of a chapter that was recantly at 6 members and stayed active to help i understand. Hug !!!!!!!!

That's really too bad that your Nominating Committee didn't look into the fact that you work so hard for your chapter and didn't give you what you wanted.
I came from a small chapter too (15 girls) and we had to overlook the probation clause too. However, we were working on a reduced officer structure which really helped. If you aren't already doing this ask your chapter advisor or area facilitator for a copy and see if you can implement it. PM me if you have any other questions. |

Amanda,
Can I just put a x2 on this part of your post? Quote:

Honestly, I think the way that Nom Com and Slate is handled is not right.....I'm not going to go into details but numerous times it feels that the advisor and others, etc. are only thinking of themselves instead of the chapter. If it makes you feel better girl when we had slate about half of our sorority was in tears....And they were NOT tears of joy!

May I also state that, as an advisor, our goal is NOT to think of ourselves and sway the slate in a specific direction. Advisors work with ALL officers regardless of office. Perhaps you should try to get to know your advisors and find out how much effort they put toward your Chapter instead of judging what you THINK they are doing. I'd hazard a guess that you would be surprised that they have your same goals for the Chapter. Remember advisors are sisters too and they love your Chapter as much as YOU do, if not, they wouldn't dedicate themselves to collegiates. Your Chapter succeeds with the assistance advisors give....chapters without dedicated advisors often struggle. Consider your Chapter fortunate. -Trish PS. Advisors CRY too! Just ask Amanda.....she'll tell you! |
Trish,
I am going PM you b/c I do not want to discuss this in public. If a message board is public - Haha. Seriously, I do apologize that you were offended by my opnion and I am sorry that it upset you. |
Quite alright.
I still stand my ground that you should talk to your advisors.....get to know them as sisters, as people. We are not scary women who want to take over collegiate chapters thru Nom Com.....we have jobs, families, lives and volunteer to help you out during what little free time we have. One of my closest friends was my CA and now that I'm a CA and she's an AF we're still close. She has held my hand through great times and the crap one too in college and even now.....I bet your advisor would reach out to be your friend too if you let her. I will look for your PM. |
