APO Brother running for US senate.
 

Erik Fleming, an Alpha Phi Omega brother from Jackson State University and member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, is right now a declared candidate for US Senate in Mississippi. He is a Democrat, running for the seat currently held by Republican Senator Trent Lott. The election is in 2006.

I agree that he has a tough road ahead, but thought that brothers would find it interesting. Besides, there are rumors that Lott might not run for re-election. I don't think we have a brother in the Senate right now (with Daschle's defeat in 2004).

Sen. Hillary Clinton is an honorary brother of Alpha Beta Chi (this according to the wikipedia page) but I don't know if that counts.

Very cool. BTW, I have had Brother Fleming in the Famous Brothers section on the Wikipedia Page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Phi_Omega even before he declared he was running against Senator Lott.

Does anyone have any suggestions for additional brothers who should be added to the list?
