Nichole "Nikki" Grandpre (Psi, South Dakota) was crowned Miss South Dakota in June and will be competing in the Miss America competition in January 2006.

Speaking of Miss America does anyone know why they pushed it back to Jan. 06 instead of Sept 05....was it the nbc contract disopute over it?

The reason Miss America moved to January is because MAO didn't have a TV contract in place for September. Since ABC dropped them, MAO hunted around until they paired up with CMT (Country Music Television).

Final night for Miss America will be January 21, 2006. Location TBA.
