What are the 3 skills you've learned or developed as a result of your involvement as a member of a GLO?

Examples could be: time management, communication, etc.

Here is what I learned:

1. It doesn't pay to be anti-social.
2. You are successful when you work hard at something.
3. Staying active will keep you healthy.

Among other things.

I've developed my ability to speak up.
Time Management
People skills/networking

How to take criticism gracefully.

How to compromise.

How to be a multi-tasking, uber time managing, wearing many different hats at once, fabulous, well-rounded woman ;) :D :p

losing my shyness for mass public speaking

how to campaign and compete

being on a first name basis with other leaders on campus

Setting priorities

Communication skills

Being correct at a formal dinner!!

How to run an organization
How to run productive meetings
How to manage a large budget

How to run efficient, productive meetings
How to balance the interests of individuals with those of an organization
Risk management
Budgeting on a larger level than my personal checkbook

Being chapter president was stressful, but if I had the choice I'd do it all over again; it was absolutely a great experience.

I've been thinking about this list all day, and decided not to put down anything for which I couldn't remember a firm example. Many of the things I "learned" in sorority were actually confirmation of what I had been told years ago, but here goes:

-Prioritizing my time, my needs, my money.
-Compromise is not always a bad thing; sometimes it's the only thing.
-How you behave today can reflect on thousands at a later date (and before anyone gets their panties in a wad, please note that I said "can", not "will").
-Boyfriends & husbands come and go, but sisters last forever.
-When to do something, and when to delegate.
-When to offer a hand, and when to be quiet and let someone learn for herself.
-Recruitment/making friends is a 365 days a year situation, not a one week scenario.
-There are appropriate times to cry.
-How to be there for someone else, and when to let someone be there for me.

And of course, everything else already stated!

ETA: Obviously, I did NOT learn how to count to three!! :D

- No situation is ever too serious to laugh. Even the most solumn ritual...something always goes awry, and life is too short to stress over it.

- How to respect the opinons of other sisters even if they conflict with my own and *gasp* maybe I can learn something from them (learned this one BIG TIME).

- how to combine tact and directness in speaking, to question but not offend, and to appologize and admit wrong when needed.

While not a very good speaker in front of people, I learned real quick when I started a Local.

Also learned to just walk up to people for recruitmet when I wouldnt ever before. Had to when a one person Idea of a Fraternity!

The main thing over all, if you set Your sights to do something, one has to change their whole dememior and do what needs to be done to get the job done.

What is nice about someone joining an existing GLO is that they have people who can work with them when there is a problem. Be their mentor and not only explain, but work hand in hand with them.

I learned more doing this than anytime in my college years.

When one gets some responsiblity, the preasure is on and most will stive to get the job done so they will not look to bad in front of their Brothers and Sisters.:)
