health nut (?)

anyone a health nut ?

i am starting to get back into my routine again - like working out and eating healthy! i just signed up to work out at fitworks (local gym in ohio) and i am starting tomorrow!!

i was doing great last winter but then i was in iceland for two weeks and that killed my whole routine...sadly enough!

any tips for me? suggestions? ideas? i need a little outside motivation!!

*dances a healthy dance*

I try to be. As for foods, I actually like a lot of healthy stuff, but somehow my body cannot handle most of it, I double over in cramps and nausea.

I wash my hands like 10+ times a day.

I try to get in a cup of green tea everyday. I drink extra, if I've been around a lot of sick people.

Oh okay now to the tips...

-forget about gym memberships and stuff. Try to get in your physical activity by doing things you like...be it ice skating, aerobics, sports, wall climbing, swimming, whatever. I get realllllly bored after five minutes on the treadmill or stationary bike!

-Experiment with spices on bland foods. Eating a broccoli and potato dish would be nasty with only salt, or worse, without anything. But adding something like garlic or curry makes the difference!

-Use olive oil as your fat, I've grown to like this stuff better than butter and margerine! Its really rich, don't OD on it.

i have to do it this way...just cause i would never work out. i have to have something over my head (like that i am paying for it) to make me go. kinda pathetic actually...

i like treadmills and those types of machines cause i'll push myself harder than just going out for a hike or what not. nothing to make me keep the speed (like falling off the machine if i slow down!!)

i will definately have to experiment with spices...not a good cook but i can try!

what kind of olive oil do you buy??

Anything that's on sale, except for that Pompian crap!

You don't have to be a good cook to add spices to your food. Just try a dash or two (before or after cooking), you will eventually learn what and how much you like.

Which FitWorks are you going to? I might be working at one. :)

Me too!! I can do the treadmill maybe a couple of times a week, but thats about it. When I was younger, I always wanted to take Ballet, so now, instead of a gym membership ( which I would never use), I go to Ballet class 3 days a week. I love it!!

either the one at chapel hill or in stow! are you there?!?

As others have said, when exercising, do something you enjoy. If you aren't going to work out regularly, it's going to be tough to get into shape. If you don't like your routine, no way you'll be able to keep up with it.

By the same token, try to find a diet you'll keep up with. If you don't like the food/eating schedule/etc., change it. It's better to lose weight moderately on a plan you'll stick to than to lose a bunch of weight fast, but put it back on quickly because you hated your diet.

I'm not a health nut or anything, but I ALWAYS use olive oil when cooking (which is rarely)...
