From our new National President (I love it so much that I have to share):
Founders Day Message, October 23, 2005 As we come together to celebrate the 108th anniversary of the founding of our beloved Kappa Delta, we recognize that though we are thousands upon thousands of individuals, we are closely bound by our ties to our sorority. Begun by four young women who sought to perpetuate their friendship, Kappa Delta has become one of the National Panhellenic Conference’s most successful sororities with nearly 188,000 initiated members. From the beginning, Julia, Lenora, Mary and Sarah agreed that membership selection was of paramount importance. They determined very carefully the principles upon which Kappa Delta was based, and they chose members whose personal qualities and goals were congruent with those of the sorority. And now, more than a century later, their amazing youthful wisdom has grown into a vast national sisterhood that encourages personal growth, academic achievement, and philanthropic service. Against all odds, this small circle of friends has become a highly successful national corporation—and yet, it is still a circle of friends who support and encourage one another while serving others. It’s important that we never lose the vision our Founders embraced; they dreamed of a sisterhood of women who believed in integrity and goodness, who strived constantly to be their best selves, and who cared deeply about serving others. Our lives have been changed, our spirits touched by the experience of Kappa Delta membership. It is our mandate to perpetuate and enhance this organization for those who will follow, and we must continue to build upon the bedrock of our founding principles. We must meet the inevitable challenges that abound as they always have; we must safeguard what is essential; and we must have the wisdom to know when and how much to be flexible. Kappa Delta’s history is a distinguished one, and each of us must continue to take great pride in our deep belief in the ideals of true friendship, truth, duty and honor. As we celebrate our founding anniversary, may we renew our dedication to our beloved Kappa Delta and all that this sorority embodies. Ta Kala Diokomen. With my love in our Kappa Delta, Bonnie Purvis Warren National President Happy Founder's Day from me as well! Much love to you all!! XOXO!:D |
