DeLay wants new Judge
AUSTIN, Texas - Rep. Tom DeLay appeared in court Friday for the first time since his indictment, but arraignment on conspiracy and money laundering charges was delayed pending a hearing on his request for a new judge. DeLay, who has had to step aside as House majority leader, did not speak during the brief court session, and was not called on to make a plea. Instead, Judge Bob Perkins told the congressman's attorney, Dick DeGuerin, that "the best way for me to handle" the request would be to defer further proceedings.

Delay put is best: "Charging with defeating Democrats"
He asked for a new judge, because the one now in charge in 2004 contributed to the kook bunch MoveOn.org, Kedwards, asst. Dems. MoveOn.org now selling T-shirts with Delay's mug shot on it (probably won't sell much, since Delay is smiling, wearing a coat/tie.) The Dems are now trying to make "being a conservative" a crime. Likely to be as successful as Hillary's "we're the govt., and we're here to help you" socialist health plan. |
OH Please You Egotistical F**K! Anything to make your S**T look decent. Aint happenen! Got caught, do the time!
PLICK! |
Hoosier, it has nothing to do with being a conservative. Using illegal means thinking you're "getting around the system" set to create a level playing field is criminal. Especially when there's so much power at stake
I wonder if any Republican DA's want to file charges on some Dems for the same thing? If they haven't, why haven't they? The fact that DeLay is the only one out there that's been charged with this, that he's been charged with so many ethical violations before, etc. leads me to believe that he is not being picked on by those big bad Democrats. Maybe the sunm'bitch is guilty? |

I'm still disgusted with him about the whole Terry Schiavo debacle.

Hoosier, what evidence have you seen? Being a person that just reads the news are you in a position to be a judge of evidence in a case that has never been to trial?
I personally hope the guy's innocent and makes this DA look like a jackass. However, I'm not going to go out on a limb without a shred of evidence to back me up. The guy has been indicted by a grand jury which tells me that there is a very good chance that the prosecution can at least make a case against him. |
Two grand juries have indicted Delay, but there have been a total of three. The first one indicted him on a charge for an activity that became illegal after he had done it, so that was thrown out by the court, the 2nd one said there's not enough evidence and the 3rd one indicted him. Also it should be noted the prosecutor's son is running for political office as a Democrat. This all seems a little too coincidental.

As for being charged with "Defeating Democrats," that's not a crime as long as it's done within the confines of the law. Sounds like that may not be the case here. Finally, at least in a perfect world, any judge would conduct this case in a totally impartial manner. But, this is Texas. OK, you can disregard that last remark... (It was a joke...) |
