Scary movies (Just in time for Halloween!)
What are your favorite scary movies?
The Omen Halloween (original one) Friday the 13th Parts I and II |
I always liked the original shining

And the book - even scarier! I also like: Silver Bullet Needful Things Pet Sematary 1 Hellraiser 1&2 |
Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic, IMO, even though it's not that old. (I saw it when I was a senior in high school so it can't be old, right? Right? RIGHT?????)
Even though it's not scary per se, I love "Hocus Pocus". |
The only scary movie that I like is "The Blair Witch Project." And that's probably because it could easily happen in here in WV. We've got a lot of woods, and we've got a lot of creepy, strange people. And plenty of places to hide bodies.

Salem's Lot scared the crap out of me. I still haven't watched the entire original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
|
I like "Signs" which scared me so much I could only see it once-but I've been working up the courage to watch it again since it's almost Halloween. The original "Poltergiest" gets me too-to this day I can't watch it.
|
The Shining and The Ring.
Plus, the original Scream is always fun to watch around Halloween. |
I'll go with The Ring.
The Exorcist III has some unsettling visuals. William Peter Blatty who wrote the original Exorcist wrote and directed this third film. Blatty uses some unusual scare tactics. There is a scene in a church with a quick shot of a statue of Christ. A moment later the same statue is shown again, but only for a second and it looks like the Joker from Batman with a crazy madhouse grin. While it looses something being written out here it is truly frightening. I do like a good movie scare, but I doubt I would watch Exorcist III again. Nightmares you know. |

I don't like truly scary movies but I do like these 3 Disney movies:
Mr. Boogedy Bride of Boogedy Child of Glass (except for the horrendous fake Southern accents) |

Other than that... I'm not really into scary movies. I'll watch Halloween-esque comedies though. |

The Haunting---it's all in your head.....and that's too creepy (or maybe it's just me)(check out the original from 1963)
Psycho---the original, of course |
Halloween (the original)
Halloween II (it's pretty scary too) The Shining Nightmare on Elm Street (the original b/c all the sequels suck ass) Signs (always good for a thrill) Poltergeist (that little girl always creeped me out) Alien Silence of the Lambs (psychological scary is good) Dawn of the Dead (the new one w/Ving Rhames) Rebecca |
