walking pneumonia symptoms?

A week ago I noticed my cold was going its third week so I saw a doctor and he said I probably had walking pneumonia and prescriped a 5 day antibiotic called Zithromax. I felt much better by the second day however, my right ear had been hurting throughout the whole cold. Today I discovered I have swelling around my ear and temple and along my cheek/jaw line, I am going back to the doctor tomorrow but I am freaked out!! If anyone can shed any light or had a similar issue or just be thinking of me tomorrow I would appreciate because I am little worried.

Thanks

I had walking pneumonia a little over a year ago. It's more than just a cold that won't go away! I seriously felt like I was going to die. There were nights where I was awake with a high fever and I was coughing uncontrollably and I just prayed that God would take me quickly. That's how bad it is!
I was achey and I was constantly coughing in all kinds of pretty colors. I was congested. High fever. I couldn't eat and lost a lot of weight. My lungs hurt because the pneumonia had caused pleuresy (sp?).
I would never wish this on anyone else. It was miserable. So, my opinion is that if you had walking pneumonia, you would know! I hear the more severe kind of pneumonia is even worse and I know that kind requires a hospital stay.
Anyway, the only antibiotic that worked on me was Tequin. That stuff is my hero. I was feeling better within 2 days of taking it.

I had it my senior year of high school.

I pretty much had the same symptoms as ZTAngel, plus a nasty tasting cough...eww.

I didn't have any facial swelling. WP is a lung problem, so I don't think it is related and I think you should call your doctor.

Walking pneumonia blows...if you had it, you probably wouldn't be able to sit upright in that chair now! I've had it twice, and each time I was like all you all, coughing up a nice rainbow of colors and I had to wheeze instead of breathe. Apparently it also affects your sanity because the last time I had it, I actually got my arse up out of the bed and walked halfway across campus in the freezing cold because I was afraid of missing the test I had that day. :p The professor took one look at me and sent me home.

I think it sounds like you might have a really nasty ear infection or something, PhiMuLady.

You may now have an ear infection. :(

When I had toncilitis, I took a Z-pack which took care of that, but for some reason, it left me with an ear infection too.

Get some rest and feel better.

I don't know much about it but I do know that had I kept my bronchitis untreated and kept smoking last winter, the doc said I was pretty close to getting it. Thanks to the 2 ER visits at a shitty "top" hospital who did nothing for me.

I gotta agree - you probibly picked up an ear infection as well... remember the body is taking a serious hit fighting the walking pnenomia - and so it's on the ropes right now and vunerable to other infections because of the weakened/pre-occupied immune system.

A lot of doctors have stopped prescribing the zpac because it doesn't take care of the entire infection in a lot of cases. Not only is it ridiculously expensive, but it makes you sick and doesn't work!

You just may need a longer term dosage of penicillin or amoxycillan.

But, as always, get your ass back to the doctor ASAP!

ACK!!! I hope not!! Some of us can't take penicillen, Cipro, or a gazillion other antibiotics!!

Well, I thought it was an ear infection as well and for the record I am allergic to most antibiotics (penicillon and amoxyicillian being two of them). Anyhow turns out it's TMJ and as long as I take advil ever 4-6 hours for the next 3 days I should be good. I apppreciate everyone's insight and thoughts!

I hope she's over it by now since it's been well over 3 years...

I had it last month and forced my way through it at work.....i got zithromax too and a cough med in pill form that was just wonderful.....however, at the end i did have an ear infection too but mine was doubled in both ears and tore a pref hole in my drum and that was nasty..........however the cough will linger on for a while as i still have it.
the TMJ you have is chalked up to the hard coughing you have had most likely
