Has anyone ever found a job on-line?
 

Has anyone ever gotten a job from an on-line site such as monster.com, hotjobs.com, etc? When I look on those sites I keep seeing the same jobs posted over and over.

The job I had before this one, they called me after looking at my resume on www.careerbuilder.com. My job before that one, I found on Yahoo jobs (which is now www.hotjobs.com I believe).

Honestly though, even though I found those online, I job searched my patootie off using various sources though (online, networking, cold calling, etc.).

The job I'm currently at I got through networking though (they never advertised for this position).

I've had interviews and gotten calls from hotjobs.com. I couldn't findmuch on monster. But hotjobs has been semi-good for me.

No. The jobs I've had have either been through someone I know or through a recruiter.

I found my current job through an online site-- not monster, hotjobs, etc. More of a specialized industry site. I've been here 6 1/2 years.

Nope - jobs I've found have all been through contacts I've made over the years.

I found my last 2 jobs (including the current one) on line. One was on monster and the other was on a speciality site.

The problem with monster is the shear volume. I am a recruiter and I put jobs on monster, careerbuilders all of the time and you would not believe the number of resumes that you get that are not even close to meeting the minimum qualifications for the job. Without a applicant tracking system or key word filter (which my current company does not have) a recruiter has to look at each and every resume. Even still , there are dozens that DO meet and exceed the qualifications. Out of that 30 - 40 that meet the quals, I may only talk to the top 10 - 15 and then bring in 5 or 6 for interviews. That's why most people prefer to go around the recruiters because they have a better chance of being seen face to face.

Yep - the job I have now was posted online, as was the job I left to take this one.

I haven't, and boy did I try.

"What Color is Your Parachute?" uses the statistic that something like 3% of job searchers actually find something online. Not sure how accurate that is, but because of the volume, I wouldn't be surprised.

I found my job online back in '98. I think it was through CareerPath (not sure if it still exists) which had some sort of agreement with the Chicago Tribune.

I work for a Fortune 50 company and I know that we get a large number of cadidates through the career section on our website.

I have gone on several interviews this summer from online postings. The interview that I went on today was on Monster.com. I had a phone interview and went on a face to face/ phone conference with 2 business managers. The key is having a very good resume that gets employers' attention.

I found my first job (yea, I haven't been out of college for a YEAR and I'm on my second ;)) on careerbuilder.com.

I wouldn't use sites like monster.com, etc as your ONLY way of looking for jobs.

It was a great job, but I got a better offer (I wasn't even looking... what great luck!) after about 6-months into it.

I found my job I've been with for almost 3 years on monster right out of college. I spent a few weeks applying for every job I thought I was qualified for (I was desperate) and it worked out great!

I found my awesome amazing job on craigslist. :D.

I found my first job through networking and my new job I found through an industry website. I totally reccomend an industry website. It will narrow down your search a ton. My first job was horrid (first job out of college) but this one (now a year later...) is just fabulous!!
