Thought we did great during FR but only got 1 Phi
So even though we thought we did great this year, and steped up our fall recruitment, on bid day only 1 of the 140 women who went through thought Phi Mu was their home. Its so hard because we are already a small chapter (30 when most other chapters on campus are between 50-80 members) and of that 30 there are 11 that will graduate by this spring, also this is the second year in a row we only brought home one phi on bid day (quota was 17 both years). But luckly through COBing we now have 7 lovely new Phi's.
Does anyone have any advice when it comes to PRing, COB's and Formal Recruitment? because at this rate out chapter is going to wittle away to nothing and I can't stand to see that happen! |
Keep up a good attitude!
Also, try different things then ACTUAL COB...any social gathering is a place to meet PNM's. Have a theme party (I'm talking board games or vegas...NOT Pimps and Hos) If there's a mainly freshmen dorm...take your COB to them. Have a COB party in their conference room at the dorm. |
Quality over Quantity
Our chapter has also had trouble in the past with formal recruitment, although it has picked up in the past two years. (This year we made quota and last year's pledge class was AMAZING). It can be hard to stay positive when your chapter is shrinking, but if Phi Mu isn't where a woman feels she belongs there isn't anything you can do about that. It's a personal conviction. I've seen women who could have been amazing Phi Mu's join other chapters and then disaffiliate and it's heart-breaking, but there isn't anything more you can do. Just keep getting out there and recruiting amazing COB phi's, and maybe next year will be your year for formal recruitment. I don't know your school's specific rules for formal recruitment activities, so I can't offer any specific suggestions but keep up the good work and remember that even though numbers are important, it's more important to be true to Phi Mu!

i just thought that was exciting and decided to say hi. |
sorry shouldve written this in the first reply but i didnt.
as far as recruitment...just make sure that you show yourselves throughout the year with all the different events that your school may have. i remember the last recruitment i did ( i just graduated) we wore letters almost everyday during the summer semester so that the freshmen who were doing orientation would notice us. the key is to be everywhere!!!! do everything!!! good luck in C.O.B. Phi Mu Love all the way from Miami!! |
