Homecoming float
 

Hey girls! I am on the Homecoming Float Committee for the Alpha Lambda Chapter at Radford University!

The parade theme is a night at the movies. Radford always writes "RU ___" and puts all sorts of phrases together like that.

... So, our theme is "RU Classic". It will be so pretty this Saturday! :)

I'll share more details later (and hopefully pictures)!

Is anyone else working on a similar project? How's it coming along?

The float sounds great and like so much fun!! I don't get to do anything exciting like that as an alum :0) I know the girls here have been working all sorts of hard on banners and stuff for recruitment next week!

How did the float turn out?? I remember one year I have to make a paper mache bee hive at the last minute. I was so awful.

Ok, so my part was making a "filmstrip" to cover the sides of the truck. I cut a black 70" x 70" shower curtain in half for the background. I printed off black and white pictures of old stars and got them blown up to poster size at Kinko's. Then I glued them down, and added one "frame" on both of the filmstrip pieces that was a white piece of posterboard that said "presents... RU Classic". There was a star at the top of that poster that said AST. There was also a black poster that said "AST presents RU Classic" to cover the gate of the truck. I also had stars made of construction paper scattered over the filmstrip - half were green with yellow paint pen writing, and half were yellow with green paint pen writing. Each star each had the name of a sister on it. :)

One of the other members of the Homecoming Float Committee made a big video camera as a prop to go in the bed of the truck. She also made a director's cut chop block thing (the thing that they say "Action!" with).

The third committee member made a giant silver movie ticket to go in the truck bed.

The sisters wore our standards ("unities") and jeans. our standards are black shirts with hunter green letters on sparkly gold matte. They were going to try to make our homecoming queen nominee to dress as an old-fashioned starlet, but I was out of town (sad) so I'm not sure if she did. Still waiting for some cute pictures! Hopefully someone will post em to our website soon. :) Love y'all!

Sounds tricky!

hilarious! Do you know how many times "unities" have changes. before I was there. they were white long sleeve t's with green, gold, and purple letters on a white background I think? then we changes them to the same letter colors but on black long sleeve t's. Then it became whatever everyone had from last semesters rush. So funny. I really really want some screen prints. I had so many littles, secret littles, grans, great grans,...that I didnt have any left!! So who do I have to contact to add 1 to y'alls next order?
