Bad Credit

I was listening to Russ Parr this morning and the people poll questions was in regards to settling down with someone who had bad credit. The brother who wrote in has bad credit and his girl has perfect credit but refuses to marry him because of his bad credit score.

If this was you would you want to stay in the relationship?

If the situation was reversed would you marry a woman with bad credit?

Thoughts?

I heard this too. I guess the issue is not the "credit" but the person/reason behind the bad score. If the credit is bad because you'r a goofball, then you may not be marriage material anyway at that point in your life, cause you have some maturing to do.

Money is a big issue, but it ain't bigger than love. If he/she is overly concerned with your jacked credit score and shows they don't have the power/inclination to work with you (or you with him/her) then yall are best to part ways anyway.

Lawd knows this is an issue for me. I have worked to clean up my credit. At my age, I would not consider a relationship with a person with credit issues.

I am curious, Professor...upon meeting someone...at what point do you discuss credit worthiness?

IMO, if I found out that the man I plan to spend the rest of my life with had bad credit, I'd try to work with him to improve it. When you love someone, the two of you should be able to work together as a team and improve one's financial situation. If the person with the bad credit doesn't want to improve, then it would be best that you not marry him/her b/c when you get married, their bad credit becomes yours as well. And if they really don't care if they mess up your good credit, drop him/her like a bad habit.
