The Rules For When Threads Are Deleted

I'm just curious what these rules are. Anyone?

According to this, there are quite a lot of posts in places like the random thread that should be deleted as well (and maybe some members that should be banned). Also according to this, most of the D&M forum should be deleted.

Not trying to be argumentative, it's just what I'm reading into this.

At the Mods/Admin's sole discretion.

For good reason or no good reason.

This is a Mod/John-ocracy, not a democracy.

I don't mind it. If you want to be offensive, don't be offended when your comments are deleted.

EDITED!!!

What Geeky Penquin said!

If any of the mods get complaints on a post or a thread (see the option to "report to moderator"), it's usually going to be deleted.

So I could report a thread to a moderator because it was annoying me and it would get deleted? That makes sense. I'm totally not trying to be argumentative either, it just seems like the choice to delete threads in here depends on WHO is doing the posting rather than the subject matter.

I have to agree with that.

LOL...I don't really think that "offensiveness" was the reason these were deleted.

ETA: I understand that john makes the rules, it just seems like they should be applied across the board and not depend on the person who is posting.

Usually they are - however, somebody like AOIISilver or DeltAlum is a lot more likely to get away with dropping an f-bomb than I am, because they're doing it to make a point and I'm doing it for gratuitious profanity.

I get a lot of posts deleted and if I have a question, I PM the mod who did it and ask them why. I also delete just about everything that's reported to me because it's inapprorpiate - although in the Gamma Phi forum, there's not much of that.

I totally understand your point. My problem with that soort of policy is that if someone doesn't like a particular person they can just report the person over and over to get posts/threads deleted.

ETA: I actually did PM the mod and I haven't gotten any response yet.
