Hi,we are a started sorority,my three friends and I and named Delta Sigma Omega in New York at New York City College of Technology,we formed this group in April and we have 20 girls interested in other colleges besides ours.We already have two chapters in africa of which the Beta chapter has 10 members and the Gamma chapter has 13 members, the college we started our sorority at doesn't have a greek life system anymore because of the hazing caused by the already established two fraternities and three sororities,so my question is we didn't get a chance to register with a Greek Council or a Multicultural Council so what do we do now? Please help

i dont know exactly what to do since your just starting.. my sorority hasnt been recognized by our college for 10 yrs and we are still going strong.. i was just going to let you there is hope.
are the other organizations still alive (have active members and taking pledge classes) on your campus even though they arent recognized? b/c if so they could probably help you |
First off, it is not important if You have Chapters in Africa.
You are in Amerca and need to concentrate on here rather than there. I too started a Local and it is very trying. We did not expand as it was with The Specific idea of Affiliation with a National Organization. If You are planing to try to expand Your Organization, it is going to take a tremendous amount of work by all Members. Try going to Colleges that are near or where You members have Friends to see if they are interested. I take it if You are talking about Africa then You may be of African Origin. Is this a Black Group? As boots49EPY said, You can have a Local that is not recognized by Your School, but it will be a little harder. You do have to be known to expand. Good Luck! :) |
