What Happens if.....

Well my question is mostly toward the D9 orgs but anyone else is welcome to answer. The question is....

If someone is initiated via an undergrad chapter but then drops out of college and never returns (and has no plans on returning) what is their status with the org?

Can they join a grad chapter?

Im not in the situation or anything I just always wondered.

If you drop out of college and never return you can not join grad chapter if you don't have your ug degree. Grad chapter membership is for those individuals *with* a BS or BA.

Now for SGR and ZPB, we have affiliate membership. Philo for SGR and Amicae (?sp) for Zeta. These are women who want to be affiliated with the sorority but do not have a ug degree. I don't know if AKA and Delta have something similar.

I would think that your status with the org is non-existant if you drop out of college. As an undergrad you have to be enrolled to maintian your membership status, at least with SGR.

I thnk there are two classes: undergrads and alumni.

We had a few who were still undergrads and didn't want to participate or didn't have time, and they were inactive ugs.

Not true for some of us. In DST, if you become a member and then drop out of college, to stay active you must join an alumnae chapter or become a member-at-large. Note they are not "grad" chapters. If you return to college, you have the option of staying in the alumnae chapter (or MAL) or joining the collegiate chapter.

Similar for APhiA, which is one of the many reasons I say Alumni Chapter, and not grad chapter.

I'm not D9, but it's pretty much ditto for us.

For Zeta Phi Beta, Sorors without bachelors degrees can be members of graduate chapters as associate members.

I'm confused as to why you brought up our Amicae group? True, Amicae are women without undergraduate degrees but once someone is a Soror they can't be demoted to an Amicae.

I was trying to give two different answers to one question at the same time. My bad. :o

Are they allowed to participate fully, i.e., vote, hold office, etc. If you don't want to answer, I understand.

When I have talked to the Deltas I know, it never came up in the conversation that y'all have affiliates so I did not know for sure. Thanks.
