Delta Lambda sister in ICU

One of the sisters from Delta Lambda was in a bad car accident and is currently in the ICU at Palm Desert Memorial. She has had to have her spleen removed, has some broken ribs and is terribly bruised. Not sure of any more details or her condition in general, but I'll post more when I get more information.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh, I'm so sorry - I just now read this. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone for your support. I still don't know many details on her condition, it's been difficult to get in touch with anyone who knows what's going on.

I do know that she will not be enrolled in school for fall quarter and her position with the chapter (New Member Educator) will be opened for a quick re-election. Recruitment is in 3 weeks and the chapter needs to elect a replacement soon.

As soon as I know more information, I will let you all know. Thank you again for your support for this sister- she is truly one of the most kind and incredible sisters I know and she is my grand-lil sis as well so I'm feeling especially terrible about this situation.

I have an update! I called Desi's former roommate and best friend (also a Gamma Phi) yesterday and asked her how Desi is doing... she told me she was at Desi's house with her and let me talk to her.

Apparently she was t-boned on the driver's side while turning out of a shopping complex. No one else was with her and the driver of the other car was ok, but her car was totaled. As I'd said before, she had to have her spleen removed, was bleeding internally, has some broken ribs and is very bruised up. She was in ICU for 2 days but is now at home and cannot leave or do much of anything because she's so susceptible for infection. Like she usually is, Desi was in GREAT spirits and was very chatty with me. She won't be returning to school in the fall (hopefully she'll be better by winter) and is upset that she's missing out on formal recruitment and her opportunity to be New Member Educator (she'd make a great new member mom!) but she's going to try to make it out to Pref night to see the sisters and I'll see her then as well.

Thanks again for your words of support! I'm just happy she's doing well and will recover soon. She kept emphasizing the importance of driving safely and attentively, so I thought I'd pass that on to all of you from her as well. Thanks again!
