Local "Gossip Rag" roasts Sororities
 

A local (Knoxville, TN) un-sponsored newsletter entitled "The Daily Hangover" has once again pushed the limits. This time, it has gone too far. The 9/9/05 publication featured a "sorority roast" which slams 11 of the 14 NPC social sororities on the Univ. of TN campus. Many of the descriptions included negative comments on the way sorority women looked, or about the sexual promiscuity(or lack of).. I was personally very offended about what these people had to say. As a new member in one of these sororities, what would you think about this "article"? What do you all think should be done? Can anything be done? I would post what was written, but really...it's very, very offensive for certain sororities.:mad:

Ignore it. If it doesn't get attention, the author won't have any fun.

As a new member, I wouldn't think anything of it. Who cares what some jackass writer has to say about sororities?

I kinda figure if he is gonna do that he should at least be nice enough not to exclude 3 of the chapters.

Without seeing what it really said, I can't comment too well. But, I would try to take it as a joke. Especially if you're calling it a "roast". If that is what the author called it, then take it as a joke because that is most likely what everyone else will think.

If I heard something like this as a new member, it would most likely not affect my pledge-ship. By that time, they know what rush was about and what their sorority is about, so I don't think it will make people want to de-pledge or anything.

But, all of this is just personal opinion, so take it how you will. :)

Seriously - that would mean you were so far off the Greek/campus radar that they couldn't even think of anything funny to say about you. Being invisible is worse than being ragged on, IMO.

Post what's written, just don't post the sorority's name. It's hard to tell whether he's being satirical or just being a jerk without actually reading it.

And if you had pledged a sorority you like and depledged because of it....I would consider that Greek Darwinism.
