Auburn Rush 2005
I have a close friend that recently went through rush at Auburn and suicided. She did not recieve a bid but wants to join a sorority she would be a great sorority sister and had all the Rec's,grades and a great GPA and even was a legacy. She has applied for COB and still keeps her hopes up that someone will pick her up. Does any one have any suggestions.

Give her the same great advice that you normally would-- look your personal best, be yourself and have a great time making new friends.
She should confirm she is on the interest list for COR/COB -- with the Office of Greek Life. From that point, the ball is out of her court and resides solely with the sororities. If she has Greek friends in her classes, it wouldn't hurt for her to mention to them once in passing that she is really interested in Greek Life and would love to learn more about informal recruitment opportunities... if they could pass her name along to their recruitment chair or contact her if there is an event. As has been mentioned in other threads, once you've done these things-- back off. It does no good to email the recruitment chair repeatedly-- they have her info and if her "resume" looks attractive, they'll give her a call-- same as you would for a job or internship. I would also recommend she attend a few campus meetings of various organizations-- to see what activities on campus might look like fun. 1) it's a great thing to be involved on campus, whether or not you join a sorority and 2) sorority women are usually active in at least one club outside of Greek life so they can add to their chapter involvement, help members become more well-rounded and be on the lookout for potential members! |
