starting sigma alpha @apsu! any suggestions

Hi I am trying to start a Sigma Alpha chatper at Austin Peay State university in Clarksville and am open to any suggestions as to recruiting ideas. there are currently three other soroities compared to five fraternities, the university is open to it now its just the matter of finding the girls, so any ideas would be really helpful. thanks alot.:)

My greatx3 grandpa was Austin Peay! My aunt teaches there now...I wish you the best of luck in starting up your chapter!

MTSU has a SA chapter. You should try and find out how they began. I do believe that they try and do a lot with AGRho.

Hey, I'm from Memphis! Good luck! Do you have formal recruitment? If so, what is it like? Then we can probably help you better :)

Oops, I wasn't aware that you were a professional sorority. I don't know too much about that kind of recruitment, sorry!

I was a member of a group that turned into sigma alpha...we were originally sigma phi alpha and were a service sorority for agriculture. All we did was contact the nationals they sent us and the information....we did what they told us and then the girls were iniated from that point on as sigma alpha...of course there was a big debate because to be in SA you cannot be in any other group...so there was about 8 of us who could not join in the process of colonizing the beta gamma chapter of SA. It really isnt that big of a process that I can remember....I would just contact their nationals...they were very supportive for us...but that may be because we already had a group of around 30 members.

You can't be a member of any other group or just any other professional group? So are you in Sigma Alpha now?

No I chose not to initiate because then I would of had to leave DZ...the 8 of us that were in panhels went on alum status through Sigma Phi Alpha when the chapter was changed to SA. I know for a fact that you cannot be a part of a Panhellenic or National Pan-hellenic to join SA.
