I can't believe this guy is the sole reason ESPN picked up a HighSchool game! Anyone else find it odd how he has a 3.5GPA but scores only an 890 on the SAT? :eek: And this guy is the #1 QB recruit in the Nation? :o

A top-rated football player - wouldn't surprise me if he had a 4.0 and an 800 on his SAT's.

You've got to think that UF and FSU have to be all over that guy - Bobby Bowden and Urban Meyer must have him on speed dial.

Totally. Its a pretty sure thing he's going to UF, both his parents went there and his sister is there as we speak. He comes from a family of Gators. :D But then again I know USC looks pretty tempting. :(

There was mention of Nebraska on one of the sites - if I were a top-rated QB with a good arm, Nebraska is one of the last places I would go as long as they were still running the option.

USC would definitely be tempting, although it will be interesting to see how the offense runs this year without Norm Chow. That could go a long ways to deciding whether he chooses USC or Florida.

I know UF, FSU, Miami (FL), Alabama, Georgia, Tenn, South Carolina, USC, Neb, Michigan and Oklahoma have all been courting him with Alabama offering the starting job. Courting and Promises aside, I think Meyer's offense would suit him best for the fun-n-gun player he is. What I'm surprised at, although I shouldn't be, is how serious he's thinking about Alabama. Another odd thing is that he's also thinking about Michigan because, rumor has it, they're offering the starting job as well. Being a starter is important to a recruit but a lot of times these young guys don't understand that it's the offensive game book they need to be considering and how their style of playing is going fit in with the O-cordinators book. A guy like Tebow isnt going to fit in well with Michigan's offensive playbook primarily due to the fact that Michigan is geared toward a fun-n-gun offense. What would be interesting is if he went to Coulumbia and played for Spurrier :eek: That would be a baaaaad thing for the SEC.

Umm...hello. Bill Callahan is our coach now. We're running the West coast offense at this juncture, and have the #7th ranked pro style QB in the nation commited to us at this point.

It should be known that Tebow is only Rivals #22 ranked player in the country overall, and the third ranked QB overall, while the #1 Dual Threat QB (ie he is more known for running than throwing.)

Tebow would not be a good fit for Spurrier's offense b/c he doesn't have the accuracy/strength combination for it. He's better fitted for an offense that will allow him to make shorter throws, and move him around outside the pocket. Think Brad Smith of Missouri or Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M rather than Jason White or Matt Leinart. Urban Meyer's Spread option might be a good fit, assuming that Tebow is intelligent enough to make the reads.

Well, in all fairness, it's not like the west coast offense they ran was inordinately successful - Big Bill was still trying to run it with the existing personnel, which if I'm not mistaken resulted in one of the worst QB ratings in school history, and a generally terrible offensive unit (that gradually got better as the season went on, to be fair).

Luckily Callahan tried to bring back the 'blackshirts' - although it was still a massive down year, the defense really carried the unit, IIRC.

Once he gets his guys into the system, it should look considerably different.

No you're right, they did suck last year. Mainly on the hands of the receivers and most importantly QB Joe Daily (who has since transferred). Daily had a ridiculous number of turnovers - though to be fair, I've never seen a guy who had so many interceptions that first went in and out of a receivers hands - , and tons of poor decisions (ran out of bounds on 4th and goal against Southern Miss, down by 4, with about minute left in the game....would have gotten us to a bowl if he'd just lowered his head and dished out a hit.)

But our receiving is slightly improved from JUCO transfers, and we have a new QB, who ran the WCO in JUCO, all the way to the JUCO national championship game. Just by cutting interceptions by a thrid 19 -> 12 will probably win us one to two more games.

And actually the defense was a supreme dissappointment last year after the Tx Tech disaster. But this is another year and the influx of talent from recruiting should be a big boost.
