wow! # 12 (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) has a lot of greek chapters.

Illi is trying to play GLOs like baseball cards...collect them all! It would be kind of neat if a school had enough greek support to have all NIC, NPC, and NPHC groups on one campus.

University of Illinois. Largest Greek System in the country. IFC 44; Panhellenic 29; Black Greek Council 11; United Greek Council 11. Total 95. Almost all have houses. 21 sororities go thru fall recruitment, 1,308 registered in 2004 (1,298 showing up on first day).

Penn State has a larger greek system. 60+ fraternities, 20 NPCs, 8 NPHC, and a bunch of LGLOS.

As far as the Penn State vs Illinois thing, I believe the answer is that Penn State has more organizations, but Illinois has more students participating. So you can take "largest" either way. |
