Have you tried browsing though older Pi Phi threads? I'm not sure, but I think this may have been discussed before.

(I really don't have ideas because our recruitment had slightly different days.)

There are kits with ready-made ideas for recruitment philanthropy day projects that were distributed at Convention from Arrowmont. Contact your president and see if she has it. Otherwise contact your Regional Membership Specialist (you are region 8).

As far as what to highlight during recruitment-- think literacy. We just announced a partnership with Read for America (go to the website to learn more) that will mesh with the CAR program.

Hi Chelsea!

I am not your Collegiate Regional Membership Specialist but I am one of them (Region 4)!! One chapter that has structured recruitment that is all about Pi Phi (like yours just changed!!) does letter books. They have full sets of printed out letters (one on each page) and the sisters and PNMs sit around the table and choose a letter or two and draw pictures, etc that start with that letter. They then assemble the letter books and donate them to local schools for children that are learning the alphabet.

Its a great idea because you dont have to be TOO artistic and it usually facilitates a great, laid back environment. Everyone is ALWAYS laughing!

Just an idea for philanthropy round! Hope this helps.

Hi Chelsea,

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by days that are "all about Pi Phi", but I'll share with you how our formal recruitment works since we don't do themes, either.

Day One - Open Houses: PNMs receive a tour of the house, including the main floor, the upstairs where the rooms are, and the basement rec room/study area. Around the house, we have different displays about our involvement on campus, philanthropy, scholarship, sisters who have studies abroad, and the big sis/little sis program. After the PNM is guided through the house and has seen all the displays, the sisters and PNMs take a seat in the rows of chairs set up near the television and watch the recruitment video, which is pretty much just a series of pictures set to music.

Day Two - Skit Day: PNMs view a skit about Pi Phi, pretty standard. :) We have it set up in the basement, and the host sister escorts the PNM to her seat and chats with her before the skit begins. After the skit, we serve milkshakes to the PNMs, their host chats with them for a couple more minutes, and then they are out the door!

Day Three - Formal Desserts: This is odd and I've never heard of other schools doing this. It's pretty much what we do instead of philanthropy day. Once again, the host picks up the PNM, and they find their assigned seat (we make place cards with the PNMs names) in the formal dining room. There, we are served dessert (that's why it's the best day of recruitment) and the sisters and the PNMs at each table get a chance to talk. It's a lot of fun. :) During formal desserts, our "Angel Band" sings Pi Phi songs, usually "Remember" and "One, Two, Three Words".

Day Four - Prefs and Pick Up: Pretty self explanitory. :)

Hope that helped a bit. PM me if you want more info!

P.S. - I have a friend who I believe is going through recruitment at ASU who has been asking me a lot of stuff about Pi Phi and greek life. :)
