Reverse snobbery
 

I don't think this have ever been discussed on GC.

So do you consider yourself as a reverse snob when it comes to certain things? You know, like people who brag about wearing $5 outfits.

Does this attitude in others bother you?

I guess that I'm a reverse snob - in that I don't think that frivolous or ostentasious displays of $$$ are the mark of a person's character...

No, I consider myself a good old-fashioned, regular snob.

Do you mean like how I think people who are into expensive cars are dumb?

Noooooooooo way Jose. I was way too poor for way too long to appreciate the fresh and quirky experience of shopping for clothes at Goodwill.

Doesn't bother me if other people do it, though. To each his own, I say.

I'll say if something came from Goodwill, but I don't BRAG about it. Considering some of the people I work with are 100 times as clothes snobby as Rudey and have never bought anything on sale I consider this a defense mechanism. :)

I like that I can find complete outfits at Target, as apposed to blowing the wad at Banana Republic.

Spend your money where you want, but I can live without it and I'll def. tell people where I get my clothes if they ask.

I was thinking the same thing about myself!

What drives me crazy is when I compliment someone on their jacket and instead of saying, "thank you" they say "10 BUCKS! Got it on CLEARANCE!!!"

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've known a couple of people that were so into the fact that they bought their outfit at Target or Walmart or where-ever - it was almost like they were trying to put me down for wearing an outfit from Harolds or Ann Taylor. And it just grates when someone laughs at me for buying something at a cheaper store and make a crack that I'm lowering my standards.

I must admit though - Target has some really cool accessories and the purses I've bought there have held up great.
