USC hazing stories?

I'm looking for a story I vaguely remember of USC (So. Cal.) suspending a GLO for hazing. GC search won't look for USC (too short).

I'd like to see the story, and see what action the school has previously taken concerning hazing, since the football hazers apparently get off with "talk".

Carroll makes hazing ban clear
By Scott Wolf, Staff Writer

A day after USC freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez got his head shaved by about 10 players who stormed his dorm room, Trojans coach Pete Carroll put an end to further incidents.

During a team meeting, Carroll told the Trojans there would be "no more hazing."

He added, "That's the kind of stuff people did in the '80s."

Sanchez was upset after the incident and consoled by teammates, including quarterback Matt Leinart. He's thrown five interceptions since the hazing. But Sanchez didn't complain and told reporters he decided to get his hair cut.

"It was time for a fresh start and I needed a new look," he said.

Put a * beside USC when searching.

Found it, and sent this letter to the campus newspaper:

The sports section reports that a freshman quarterback was attacked by 10 football players in a hazing episode, and the quarterback's head was shaved - maybe other body parts too.

In conflict with campus policies and state laws, these ten hazers got a lecture from their coach.

In contrast, according to the Daily Trojan archives, hazing by a fraternity or sorority is treated with suspensions, probation, and other requirements:

"Six fraternities participated in an event in which actives from a sorority invited their pledges to various fraternities where alcohol consumption and hazing of the sorority pledges occurred. Two fraternities and the sorority received suspension of recognition for one semester. They must complete sanctions and successfully petition the vice president of Student Affairs. They also received disciplinary probation for one year after recognition, and all seven organizations must attend a workshop on USC group responsibility and hazing policies, a series of workshops on values and ethics, participate in leadership development and hold two non-alcoholic events prior to events with alcohol."

I think it's time for this campus double standard to end.

No problem.

They'll suspend the football team from the end of the bowl season until the beginning of Spring Practice.

They members will just have to work out on their own.
