EBAY selling ritual book

There is an old ritual book on ebay. Does someone want to go and snatch that up so it doesnt go into the wrong hands? It would be a cool thing to have, but we should keep it in Beta if you know what i mean.

I'm not sure if it is the real thing or not. It might be one of many other publications.

let us know if you get it

I should look at EBay more often... we definitely don't need important stuff like that to venture too far from a Beta's hand(s).

a.e.B.O.T. 08-11-2005 12:51 PM

You also can find some pretty cool stuff. There is no allegory in our Beta lodge, so we had no clue what are allegory was or what it looked like. Well, then there it was on Ebay for sell and an old LC purchased it for us and Iowa's allegory was on there not too long ago.

ECUJacob 08-11-2005 01:00 PM

I am not even sure that our Chapter ever produced an allegory. If we had one, noone I know of (old or current) has any idea what it is. I have already started bugging some of my Art-major brothers to draw us something.

Well, I dont remember the date, but it was in the early 20th century or late 19th when it was requested for chapters to have one. Most chapters formed after that date do not have one.

The "allegories" were the "mystic" drawings or art which served as the frontispiece for each chapter's entry in the Catalogue of 1881, edited by that master Clubhouse Builder, Charles J. Seaman.

There is no reason why a CHAPTER cannot select a work of art for her own use, just as she may select her own mark-of-difference and her motto. To my knowledge, the only "new" chapter which has an allegory is MTSU. Some of the original allegories are rather far afield of Beta lore (they were dug up out of other, er, clip art collections, and then, er, photoshopped into the correct Greek characters. Of course the single most important one is Epsilon's, as you probably already know.

If you do get one drawn, be sure to write an appropriate explanation, for use at the proper time. More I cannot say here.

The book sold for $315 - likely to a Greek Collector of some sort. If you look in that persons feedback, some of his/her past won bids were KKG pins and other greek badges.....

....bug, $315? Is that all we're worth? hahaha. I remember the days of the rituals going for $2K or more....well, that rush must have died down. :o

Thanks for the info., however I am somewhat confused. You say that 'he' rescued it, is that your husband or some other Beta? Also, you say "that is sad", what do you mean?

Please reply.

Thanks.
