Most Memorable Moments...
So, let's share! What memorable moments stand out in your AI journey or in the process of helping a PNAM go through AI?
For me... Meeting collegians and alumnae at a Homecoming Tea in 2003. The girls were wonderful, and I knew many of the alumnae from my college days. It was great to see them again! Receiving a New Member Orientation Packet with the organization's history. Unfortunately, I'm still not a "New Member," but I remember being so thrilled to get the packet in the mail. I've read that thing over and OVER! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that something will come of it. LM |
I think a big moment is yet to come. I'm going to be getting back in touch with my old pledge mom from 20 years ago! And, even though we both went to UF, it turns out she lives in my state now. How is that for fate?

Oh gosh....so many! I would have to say that I have two. One was meeting a (then future) sister for coffee to learn more about AGD, and the other was meeting another for lunch to get the perspective of someone who was from a chapter without a house (Chantal, who I met for coffee is from Zeta Chi at Western and Bev is from Alpha Eta at Dalhousie). Bev showed me her scrapbook and told me about Greek Life at her school (Dal has three sororities: AGD, a regional Canadian GLO called Iota Beta Chi and a local, Omega Pi. They also have several fraternities)

Man, how is it that it was only two years ago, but it feels like twenty?
Favorite moments as a PNAM:

Meeting the representative from the other group I was interested in. Even though we were complete opposites, she was such a fabulous woman, I hoped we'd be friends no matter what happened.
Meeting YogiPhi for the first time and clicking so instantly. I'm kind of a hard person to get to know, so the fact that she and I bonded almost instantly should have been a clue. :)
Going to the other group's Founders Day ceremony. It was so beautiful to see women from 25-90 in the same room, all singing a song that meant so much to them. Words can't explain how much it meant to me.
Getting my bid from Alpha Phi - YogiPhi called me on the phone to apologize for cancelling her New Year's Party and to offer me an invitation to join all in the same call. Needless to say, 2003 started in spectactular fashion!
Just like Ariesrising, getting my badge in the mail but not being able to wear it. I used to hold it up in front of my clothes just to see what it might look like. :)
Initiation. Blue thongs, Phi Bears, and finding family years after I thought my time was long past.
Favorite moments helping someone else through:

The look on Jill1228's face when I gave her the paperwork to start the process. Lord, I still laugh when I think about it. :D
Singing to Ariesrising in the parking lot. Bwahahahahahahahah!
|
I have to add that my most favorite moment as a PNAM was when the mail man dropped a huge box at my door. I opened it up and there were all kinds of presents beautifully wrapped up in tissue paper and ZTA ribbons. A Zeta mug, photo album, pin box, note paper, pillowcase...and much more. I was literally moved to tears.
This box came from a Zeta on GC who I have never met! She just thought that every Zeta-- even an AI, should get initiation presents. This person (and she knows who she is) made my initiation so special. She showed me what Zeta love is all about. I cherish everything she sent, but most of all, I cherish our new friendship and sisterhood! |
I think one of my favourite PNAM moments was when I first met my future Big Sister, Cele (GPhiBLtColonel). She came to one of our Greekchat get-togethers and we just clicked - she's a riot and a half! (We're both a bit wacky! LOL! )
