Happy Birthday! Was it yesterday, the 27th? That was my oldest daughter's birthday-she turned 17! And how old...naw, jk!!:D

I can tell you that it took 3 years after my sister left for school for her and the most hated boyfriend to break up!! But they eventually did!! So there is hope!! Just put her in a different setting with new friends and new goals in life-- and BAM!! -- it can happen!

K and the jackass (that word is far too nice...) will be a good 5 hours apart.

The thing that worries me most is that he will be living at home and commuting. He has said many times that he has no desire to make new friends. He plans on just keeping in touch with the friends he has now. He's living in a dream world there! She'll be far away making new friends, rushing (!!!!)... I'm afraid that if she does stay with him, he's going to hold her back and make it seem like he's there watching her all the time. Ugh, ok, I'm going to stop before I get really mad again.

Oh my gosh-- this is exaaaacccttttllllyy like my sister and her ex-boyfriend!! Only thing is though he was 5 years older than her...but he was still in college...he went part time at a local university and worked full time....she goes to school 4 1/2 hours away. He did not make new friends in college-- he is still friends with all of his friends from HS (which there is nothing wrong with that) but he had no friends from college! As time went on she met new friends at school and dated guys (while they were still together-- oops!) at school that were of a way higher standard (in my book) to say the least!!

To put it simple...he stayed in his same old life at home and she went on to a new, more exciting life!! She lived her life as she wanted at school and did not let him hold her back from doing anything-- she went to fraternity parties/mixers/date parties with her guy friends and had a blast!! One of the toughest things is that he hated her school friends and her sorority...making it very difficult to get along-- her friends and her sorority are her life!!

The only way he can hold your sister back is if she lets him!! Just make sure you tell her to have fun at school-- he does not need to know everything!! She will miss out on so much if she worries about what he will think!! And as we all know-- you only live once and you cannot repeat some of those times you missed!!

If they stay together-- maybe he will grow up and realize there is more out there away from home!! I don't know the details of why you don't like him-- but I just did not like my sister's ex AT ALL and it would not have mattered if he changed!!

Does the rest of your family like him? Mine did at first, but as time wore on he wore on everyone's nerves!! I think there was more pressure on her to cut him loose once the whole family disliked him-- including our Grandma (now that is bad when a grandma does not like you)!! Tell her how you feel-- it may help!! Good Luck!!
