Hollister
Do any of you shop at Hollister? A new one is being built in our mall...I can't wait! My friend has a job lined up there when the remodeling is finished...and she said something about a community dressing room....kind of weird. Are all of the Hollister's like that?

meh...I can tear my own jeans.
I had a friend of a friend who worked at one...they said their managers had to rate the applicants on how hot they were...anyone under an 8 didn't get hired, no matter what retail experience they had. Bullshit if you ask me. |
what's holisters?

I'm not a fan of Hollister, the store is always loud, crowded, and with bad ventilation. Also, the quality isn't always that great. It's like a cheaper version of Abercrombie. I got a shirt there once, and had to return it the next day, because after I wore it out once for a few hours only, the seam started to come undone. That's a sign of great crafstsmanship.

That's true, at least my friend who was a manager there (and later one at Abercrombie) told me that same thing. He didn't tell me about an exact number but he said that they hire people with a certain look. Man, he was HOT...I kind of miss him. And yes, they do have community dressing rooms, but I mean it's not that weird, you have a bra and underwear on which is pretty similar to a bikini, I guess just make sure you're not wearing ugly granny panties on the day you decide to go shop at Hollister. :p We're getting a Forever 21 here in the fall, and though the quality of the clothes there is crap they are cheap and good for going out purposes...I can't wait! :D |
Our Hollister doesn't really have community changing rooms, but it's just a curtain divider. I rarely shop there, but my younger sisters do.
And they definitely do hire based on looks, my sister was shopping there and a girl employee tried to get my sister to fill out an application. |
I'm not a fan of Hollister, or Abercrombie for that matter. I just hate how anything you buy from there has to say HOLLISTER all over it.. tacky in my opinion. The quality of clothing isn't good... I would say their stuff would be best for days on the beach or by the pool, nothing more.
ETA: they make their shorts and skirts extremmmely tiny, basically like undies  |
I've noticed a lot of companies do that now. I was shopping at Bebe with one of my pledge sisters today and I saw a really cute pair of boyshort undies. Then I was informed that no no, it's actually real shorts, just ones in which about half your ass hangs out of them.

i don't get those or super low rise jeans, i mean, where the hell do i find a pair of jeans nowadays where half my rear isn't hanging out of them?! grrrrrrrrrrr...
|
I did buy a really cute pair of pink pants from Hollister, but the inside around the waist was this like glittery belt that drove me so crazy. I think to wear them, I would either have to wear some huge granny panties or panty hose under them so they wouldn't bother me.

Needless to say I still feel uncomfortable shopping there because I feel like someone is talking about me every time I'm there. |
my daughter and i were at hollister and she spotted a shirt that she liked. she tried it on and it worked, so we went to purchase it. after we stood in line for about 15 or 20 minutes and finally made it to the counter, the salesgirl informed us that she couldn't sell us that top because it was tagged"display." she told us to go back and get another one. well, as luck would have it, it was the only xs in the store. she said it didn't matter, she still could not sell it to us, that it was for display purposes only and if she sold it the merchandisers would get really mad at her. i asked her if it was better to lose a sale and a customer and she just shrugged her shoulders. hasta la vista hollister!!
