OTTAWA — Ontario could become a much drier place later this month, but not just because of the weather.

The Liquor Control Board of Ontario employees' union announced today their threat to strike July 28 in retaliation to what they see as management's sneaky steps toward the privatization of the province's liquor outlets.

Ummm...this has nothing to do with religion. The union is upset about privatizing the LCBO.

Ummm... Tom the Ontario Liquor Board are the folks that sell us the happy juice up here - and if they go on stike its not because of religion, but because they want a new contract.

I can understand that... I don't believe that the profitable and successful government agencies should be privatized - afterall it's basically short term monetary gain, ignoring the revinue brought in over the long term.

Besides I'd don't doubt if the LCBO when private then it would be wholey given over to being a commerical venture were profit is king - at least now there is serious quality control and enforcement, along with co-operative enforcement of liquor laws... I don't ever want to see some of the crap I've seen for sale abroad ever for sale here...
