Luther Vandross
SoRHOrs and dear friends,
I am surprised not to see a thread already dedicated to this topic, but I was SO saddened to hear of the passing of Luther Vandross on July 1st. He was such a classy man and his voice was like velvet... we lost a star in every sense of the word... in an industry where people people have no shame in singing vulgar, demeaning, and hyper-sexualized lyrics, it was nice to put on a little Luther Vandross and have a man say, "Excuse me, miss, but what's your name?..." <just like Florida Evans from "Good Times"? D@mn, D#mn, D%mn!" (P/S: i didn't want to believe it when i heard it first, 'cause you all know people start these rumors on the internet...but when I saw it on CNN, I had to accept it.) |
If a topic has been started in another D9 forum, we tend not to start it again in another. This may be why there wasn't one here.

I too am deeply saddened by the loss of Luther...
About 5 years ago, while in L.A. on business, I had the pleasure of meeting Luther Vandross. He was so nice and appreciative of his fans. I remember asking Luther if I could to take a picture with him and one of his "people" rudely refused and urged Luther to move on. Luther apologized for this person and promised to take a picture with me after addressing the crowd. Once he finished speaking with the crowd, Luther found me in the crowd and allowed me (and my co-workers) to take a picture of and with him. It was great!!! He will be missed! :( |
