Paper talk...

I wanted to pose a question here because if I placed it on general chat it'll be dragged on and on. I am a prospective member (going grad) one of my concerns definitly is not having any respect from other members because I did not pledge under grad. Now I have no idea what the graduate process is like. It may not differ from the undergrad process. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you came across the same concerns? How did you handle it?

misssgrho 10-31-2000 09:45 PM

Don't worry if you become a Sigma woman you will be respected and loved because you a soror. It doesn't matter whether you gained membership through grad or undergrad as long as you work hard for Sigma you'll be loved. We are sisters, we are a family and we respect each other. The graduate MIP is the same as undergradutae MIP.

BlueReign 11-01-2000 01:36 AM

Ditto that!!!

But also I am the type of person that I don't give a " " what anyone thinks -- grad or undergrad. I love Sigma Gamma Rho and I work hard at carrying out the vision of my 7 Beloved Founders.

It's not how you came in, it's what you do after you are her that matters.

Tre 11-01-2000 04:15 PM

As many sorors told me before I came in, it's your business how you got in and no one elses. I just crossed an alumni chapter in chicago, and SGRho is one of the best decisions i've ever made.

it really doesn't matter how you got in. forget what other peoople think. you will still get much luv and respect from your sorors. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

What do you mean by that?

SearchNSistah,
I usually dont call people out on Greekchat,as I see so many times it just elevates into something ugly. But now that you have brought negativity into my forum, my HOME, I have to say something.

Just because there is a common misperception that "Paper" members get ABSOLUTLEY no respect from frat and sorors, please don't perpetuate the myth by insinuating that MY sorors are lying. Now dont get me wrong, there are many people that disrespect "paper" members. But that is an individuals choice, not that of an entire population who still pledges. We're not machines and we dont all think alike. Just cuz some may do it, not all do it. So if my sorors have said they dont do it, then they dont. There's no need to lie about a subject like this.
So to Akirakay and other interests:
There may be times you feel shaded, but you have to remember that those people are just PEOPLE. There's only one judge and thats my GOD. If you join, you will always be a part of the sisterhood. Some sorors will be your SISTER but not everyone will be your FRIEND, just like in a real family. Will you really let some PEOPLE stop you from joining the NUMBER ONE SISTERHOOD IN THE WORLD (whatever that is for you) just because they can't have the common respect that we're all intended to have????
To SearchNSistah:
For future reference, please refrain from trying to cause drama in our HOME. We don't need it.

SoloRHO,
I have a drive in my heart for Sigma Gamma Rho. All roads have lead me there. It's up to me now to do my part to make the dream a reality. I've listened to you and your sisters and I'm taking your words with me on my quest.
Have a Blessed Weekend and of course, Happy Founders day!

Akirakay, you seem like a very nice, positive sister. I look forward to the day that you post here as my Soror!!

Solorho, I feel you on that one.

Hello Sorors and Friend!
I would just like to say that I agree with what everyone has said here regarding the way you come into the sorority not having a influence on what you can do once you are in the organization. It is very important that we remember that none of the founders "pledged" or were "hazed". I am not saying that there is absolutely no merit in the process, but many of the actions that sorors take to "make" new members can bring the sisterhood to ruin if the actions are taken out of hand.

So, to the interested young lady...I wish you all the success in the world. Whatever way you come in, I hope that you stay and share your talents and gifts to help uplift Sigma Gamma Rho http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

paper talk

first of all I will like to mention that I am not a Greek. I am interested in a particular BGLO, I have been for a while now. In the meantime, I browse through different BGLO forums, to read the responses of the ladies of the four sororities. I must say that I was very impressed by the manner in which you lovely ladies of SGRHO handled the topic, in reference to being paper. I have heard some rude responses on other forums, but you all were nice and genuine with your responses. I think that is the way it should be. There are numerous non-greek individuals who read these forums/posts. Out of respect and love of your organization I think that one shall be respectful and kind as possible whenresponding to a posts. I admire you all for doing that. I know that some question may seem self-explanatory or shouldn't be asked at all but how else will a person know if they don't ask. That is all. Take care

Ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho and interest:

I have not posted in a long time but I had to respond to this most positive post. As my screen name implies, I recently joined a grad. chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. The experience has been far more wonderful than I had ever imagined. In my travels, I have been embraced by Sorors and Frat alike. All my fellow chapter members have made it plain that I will continue to be loved and respected as long as I work hard for our beloved sorority. Good luck on your quest.
