What do you think about other sorors getting tatoos and or brands?

My philosophy in life is to do whatever makes you happy, and if sorors want to brand or tattoo their body and they are doing it for themselves and not to impress others, then let them.

Personally I don't think it's attractive for females to have tatoos at all, but I do understand that tatoos for females are socially acceptable. So tatoos aren't that bad. I don't think it's acceptable at all for women to get brands. I may have an old-fashined point of view but brands in my opinion are in no way lady like.

Ok I hope I don't step on any toes here, but I have a tatoo on my upper arm of a blue rose and the greek letter Sigma Gamma Rho over it. I love my tatoo and I love the place it is.
I wanted a tatoo before I was a SGRho but I got to thinking that what ever I put on my body will be permenant and I don't want to be 70 with a tatoo that does not in any way reflect who I am, becaus I felt like it was cute at 20 (kind of like thta name thing we were talking about earlier)

But when I crossed I figured this will be something that will ALWAYS be a part of my life so why not. My only regret is that I can't were sleelveless clothes all the time anymore, becaus esome places I just would not be respected fopr having a tatoo.

Now another thing is that I was contemplating getting a brand when I was in an extreme case of neoitis, (ok, I stil am but it's calmed down a little bit. I only were one piece of perry per day now http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif) but anyhow, the thing that really stopped me from getting a brand was the size and the fact that someone I seeing at that time had just got one andI swear that I could still smell it months after wards and plus I saw wht would happen if it didn't heel well and I knew there was no way of going back on that, not to mention that I am a tru cry-baby, I cried for two days over the tatoo..lol.

But I do have a soror in my chapter who has a brand and she is happy with her choice and I don't think that it was a bad choice,. the thing is that as females and living in the society that we live in, we have to be more subtle with the things we do and heres is on her upper arm like my tatoo and I think that is fine.

Another thing, however is that fact that when you have a tatoo or brand that is in constant public site, you must realize you are constantly in perry. And although I know we all tyry to be lady-like at all times, we do all have our nights were we just want to party. And just as you would not get drunk in a SGRho t-shirt, you should not, CAN NOT do that with a tatoo or brand hanging out all over the place , but that a different topic

Bottom line is that I will probably never get another tatoo, but I am glad that I have the one I have and I know when and were to display it. I don't feel it makes me any less feminine, but basically I am all feminine so there is no way I could change that.

One more thing, the crest is not something I feel anyomen should tatooo themselves with that is to "sacred" in my opinion, and I have also heard it is a copyright infringement.
(but I guess that some would say who am I to talk when I have three greek letters tatooesd on me.)

I dont see anything wrong with either as long as its "tasteful", which of course is open to interpretation.

But I guess I'm a little biased cause on the small of my back I have a poodle standing on top of the greek letters. I like it! People that have seen it told me that its tight. And its not in an area where its visable or unprofessional as far as my work life goes.

But to each his/her own. That's just me, I'm just the type thats into body art and piercings and such....

Before I became a member of SGRHO I had decided that I wanted a tatoo after I've crossed. My tatoo is located on my lower back and its a picture of the open book with a flame down the middle with SGRHO in greek written in the book. My tatoo is small though. And earlier on this year I got a brand above my ankle with the sigma sign. (It came out real nice too and its small. (it looks very attractive if you ask me !). My reasoning for doing this is due to the fact that it reminds me of the oath that I've took to uplift and serve the communit as well as a life time commitment that I've made to our sorority, as well as a good case of the neocytis.

I recently saw a Soror who had one in a relatively hidden spot. I wouldn't believe that she had one until she showed it to me! I wonder how many "old heads" are out there with tats hidden under their gold sequins. tee-hee :p

I personally have 2 tattoos. One is on my back, which is a rose, and the second is on my thigh and it has the letters. I don't see anything wrong with tattoos. Now an abundance of them is not becoming at all. Like with most other things, you have to be tasteful!

I am the proud owner of a yellow rose. It's in an easily hideable spot when I'm working, but easy to show at step shows, etc. Most people who know me know why I have it, and other people who see it probably have no idea what it represents. I'm contemplating adding some more roses and vines to the piece until I get to seven roses, but I know I can sit still long enough to get six more done at once.

I too have a small yellow tea rose on my upper thigh, you can see part of the stem if I have on shorts. Congrats sorhor on your new tatt...be careful I hear they are addictive. ;)

well i recently got a tattoo of a rose and the letters falling off of the rose like dew falls from it..... i think it is tight as a matter of fact i know it is.. it hurt like hell though...:eek: it's kind of big but the tattoo artist was like "u better represent right!!!!!" :D

I think this is a really interesting subject because I'm currently thinking about getting a tatto. The only thing is I dunno where I wanna get it. I was thinking maybe on my thigh (since that's where most of my meat is and i heard that a tatto hurts less when it's on a meaty area). But then again I wanna get the letters put on me or maybe just a rose but if I do, do ya'll think that would be a little distasteful? Lemme know what you think soRHOrs.
Also just as a side note I don't think getting a brand is very cute either. It's not femine and they can go horribly wrong. I know a couple of zetas who got brands on their ankles that were suppose to look like 2 z's but instead came out looking like the number 22!

Hi Sorhor I don't think it is distasteful for me because I carry myself very well and the tattoo is feminine.... I was undecided also because I was going to get it on my thigh and then I was like Noone will see it because I do not wear things that are short so I got it on my back right behind/on my shoulder.

I'm glad to see everyone posting on this subject. I have a tatoo on my lower back of an open book with a torch in the middle of it, with the greek letters "sigma gamma rho" and I also have a brand above my right ankle--which is the greek letter sigma. I believe that getting a brand or a tatoo is a personal choice. My brand is smooth and its not keloid. It actually came out quite nice and is lady like.

It's not for me, but if you like it, I love it! :D From what I've read, everyone has nice, respectable tattoos and/or brands that they wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in a picture. (Soror Tinese, I love your design.) I do hear that tattoos are addictive, so I hope none of you will have to have a tattoo intervention about getting poodles, roses, and Sigmas all over your bodies.
