Georgia State University - Panhellenic Questions

If anyone here is at Georgia State University, can you tell me whether the chapters there are at total every year? I was there when Phi Mu last colonized, and I was just wondering whether the campus has discussed expansion at all.

(Edited because I meant the original GSU, not that backwater latecomer in Statesboro) ;)

I'll check around. I don't think their quota is all that huge since they're an urban and mostly commuter college.

The sororities at State usually have quota of the mid to high teens. 2 of the 5 chapters usually do not make quota by a few people and have to COR. I have a friend who is a chapter advisor over there....she has not mentioned expansion at all.

Usually getting women to sign up for recruitment is difficult and just before the last greek advisor left she got GSU's NPC to raise total from 50 to 60!! There were chapters NOT at total (or barely there) when she raised it. A few chapters are not at total after reaching quota during recruitment either.

who did they lose? I hadn't heard that!

I don't know about totals and all, but I'm pretty sure that we never had KKG here. I'm a '03 alumni.

However I did help out with Rush when I worked in Student Life and Leadership (where the Greek advisor is) and recruitment is difficult. The NPC women really have to work hard on that. Hopefully things are better now though. Greek life here has really come up since I've been here.

Clarification on GSU's:

Kappa's chapter at Georgia Southern is the one that is being re-established. We haven't had a chapter at Georgia State.

(Heck, I went to school in Atlanta, and I get 'em confused!)

Nevermind. I'm dumb.

Heh. Note to self: learn to read. State does not equal Southern. :o

Wow, things have sure changed since I was there, but then again, the system was doing so well that they actually expanded back then.

It's okay. The real GSU is located in Atlanta, not Statesboro.
:p :D
