partying or hanging out with other greeks
Not sure if it is the same everywhere else, but at my school certain sororities tend to party with one or two other fraternities.
At my school we have Pi K A, ZBT, TKE, D-Chi, and APD(frat) and ASA, AGD, AST, Tri Sigma, and Phi Sigma Sigma. Certain organizations are closer with others. For example we would have a lot of ASTs come to our house, some AGDs, and a few Phi Sigs. I dont think I have ever seen a Tri Sig or ASA at our house. Does this kind of separation exist at your school? |
I think that happens at most schools - and I know for a fact that it changes by the year!
We had about 15 ZBT little sisters at the time! :) |
Yep, it happens a lot at my school too (even though we don't have sorority houses), but I agree with honeychile that it shifts. A few years ago we dated/ hung out with mostly Kappa Sigs and swapped with Kappa Alpha Psis, and now we mostly date/ hang out with TKEs and SAEs. Go figure.
(No ZBTs at our school ;) , but my brother pledged ZBT at his!) |
at my school we hung out an awful lot with the lambda chi's this year and last.. but i think that had changed from previous years. i think a big factor is if ppl in the orgs are dating each other.

At my school it seems like Greek Sing pairings do a lot for relations for that year until the new pairings are announced. We always seem to become best friends with our partners...and then get NEW best friends the next year!
My buddy list is always a good indicator. My freshman year I had an entire section entitled "Lambda Chis" then the next Greek Sing, half my buddies were Pikes, and I wasnt there for this year's Greek Sing, but all my sister's Webshots are filled with them hanging out with allll Delta Chi's! |
Us Tau Delta girls have as of recently become very fond and close to the Kingsmen of Lambda Gamma Epsilon, through relationship and friendship. Before that, we were quite close with Sigma Delta Phi, but as classes graduated, the closeness has dissapated somewhat. We do not hang out with our constitutional brothers, as per their choice. However, we hope to change that. But so far, the Kingsmen hang out with us more than their constitutional sisters. The constitutional families are sort of screwed up, perhaps outdated, but all are bound.
Lambda Gamma Epsilon= Theta Nu Sigma Delta Phi= Kappa Phi Omega Pi Beta Sigma= Tau Delta Zeta Phi= Sigma Alpha Tau (owls) Eta Phi Mu= Epsilon Kappa Tau Pi Kappa Phi (Country Club)= Tau Epsilon Mu and Alpha Sigma Phi is not bound to anyone, per NIC rule. |

Edit: Country Club was founded November 28, 1908, National Pi Kappa Phi was founded...Dec 10 1904, so that trumps the idea that the local was founded first...however, Club's founding date might be the day they were founded with Greek Letters, not the fraternity itself. I don't know. |
That is so wild! Thanks for the info! I wonder what their badge looks like? Do they have badges?

At our school it changes with Greek Sing, My pledge term Fall 2002, TKE were always with Tri-Delta and Alpha Phi, before that it was Gamma Phi. The in the spring, we were paired up with Delta Gamma which was funny because nobody from our house hung out with them because they were always with SAE. After that, it was always Tri-Delta and Delta Gammas at our house. Now we hang out with Delta Zetas and Delta Gammas, and nobody really hangs out with Alpha Phi.
